HR34 problems

I wish there was a way to disable all the clutter. Does anyone actually use score guide or the apps? I hate all the pop up crap ... "to start over, press rewind but then you can't do anything else", that stupid blue box on Sunday ticket, the pointless forecast on WeatherNation. The only interactive feature that I want is local forecast on the actual Weather Channel. Other than that, they are guide-cluttering, receiver-slowing wastes of time!

I can say that this truly is a known issue that Directv is working on. What the CCR should of done was made you do a send report and then fill out a form and tag the send code with the report that I can fill out on my end then send it over to the net. I get tons of calls on this and it's one of the longest bugs without a true fix that I've seen in a long time. Directv tells us not to send out a new receiver or setup a service call because that won't fix the issue.
 
Andrew thanks for confirming this. When I called I felt the CSR was reading through notes in the system and I got the answer that Directv is telling the CSR to say.

I feel that there's hope because on Saturday I loaded the CE software and the receiver is working great now. Not as fast as the HR24 but it can be used now.

I've stated a number of times this is a known issue DirecTV engineering has been working on.....as Andrew says a tech visit or a replacement HR34 won't fix it.....but it looks like the fix will be in a national release soon...
 
The best way to fix the HR34 is to GET A HR44 I can't stress this enough, There are expensive owned HR44's on ebay(well supposedly until you verify) But it's well worth it if you don't want another 2 year contract.
 
This lag issue is getting completely impossible! It's WORSE than it's ever been over the last 3 days. It used to just lag a few times every now and then. Now, it's lagging many times per night when we watch TV. Seeing as how this is Wednesday, there isn't a way to download the CE I suppose that supposedly is a good fix for this?

Is there some sort of remote combination you have to key in like you used to have to do at one time? I tried a LONG hold of the List button, but, nothing happened. (Lagging again, I guess?)

I just can't believe that DTV engineers have been "working" on this issue for so long. I mean, once this became a well known issue, since these boxes are just "computers" underneath, one would think that they could have just rolled back to a "Last known good" configuration.

I've got to try this CE, but, how do I get it?

You'll need to wait for Friday night or Saturday night to download the CE. Check the CE forum for confirmation that there will be a CE on Friday. That's the only way to be able to use this receiver again, it becomes impossible to use with the current software. Good luck!
 
I'm so happy I followed you guys advice here to insist on getting the Hr44 when I switched from Dish last year. Knock on wood, not a single issue with my dvr, the C41 clients are not as great but nothing like the problems being described here.

I wish they would hurry up and fix it, last night it would take 60-90 seconds for the guide to populate. Even skipping past commercials it sometimes gets stuck for a minute and won't let you do anything until it catches up. I find myself using my Roku more and more now due to the ongoing problems with the HR34. Most network shows we watch are from CBS anyway, and Amazon Prime has them up the next day.

My HR34 has been doing the same as yours for a couple of Months now, It was maddening. I did a keyword search "cleanmybox" this cause a reboot and apparently cleanout the cache's. My HR34 is back to its normal speed, not fast, but at least I don't have to wait for 15-20 seconds after a Remote Key Press anymore.
 
The clearmybox code is great. A while ago, I posted about using one box for two TVs using HDMI splitter. I have done that. In addition to the CE and clear my box, the second I disconnected the client coax, it got significantly faster now. Fastest Directv receiver I have used, on par with the HR44. I wouldn't believe it if I wasn't using it myself.

I have had same problem software was updated on 8/21 to 0x8d4 worked good for 2 days now back to hanging up again.
 
0x8d4 does not include a fix for this problem....
 
does cleanmybox reset your to do list and series options? if so then I will wait for the NR or pull a CE, if not then I will try it.

No, this code does a special reboot, your Recordings, to do list and everything will come back after the reset. Remember though that it also clears the guide data, so if timers are to fire within a few minutes to an hour they may NOT function properly.
 
I still can't believe how fast my awful HR34 is without the client. As I have previously posted, Directv promised me an upgrade to the HR44 (without me asking) when I move. I might not be that upset if they don't actually do it. If anyone can deal with mirroring the same thing on 2 TV's, ditch the client and save the $6.

I recently moved and they didn't offer me the HR44, they said I already had a Genie. Yeah, a crippled Genie. :D
 
HR34 -First out the gate - MFG has problems -That's why theirs a HR44 - HR34 is chip driven With software fixes that D* is Slow or may or may not get right - Dump the 34 and you'll be happier as soon as you can
