HR20 install

I signed up for DirectV on Dec 18 and ordered the HR20. I was told that the receiver was in short supply but would be installed within 30 days. Today when I called Directv, they said currently they are not scheduling installs for the HR20 because they are out of stock. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE AND IF NOT WHY ARE THEY TELLING ME THIS?
 
I'm located in DFW.. so per area may differ. However, I'm switching from E* and ordered today and have a planned install for Monday. Two rooms (apartment) with one HD DVR.
 
Call back and talk to someone else.

I was told the same thing a week ago and then the next day was told they had some and got an installation date.
 
call back and ask to talk to retention, i was promiced one back when i first signed up again in oct 2006 i would get one for only 49.99 (shipping, but had to pay the 300+ total up front first and then get it credited back, but the install dates were past xmas, so i told them what if i can find it locally? they said they would credit me the cost once i activated it, and they have, so its worth a try, all they can do is say no, i made the point clear it was important to have before xmas (was a gift for my parents) and they totaly understood.
