I recently switched from Time Warner to DirectTV. Is it just me or is the remote for DTV a lot slower in response time when pushing buttons than the TW one? Also I have to point it directly at the receiver or nothing happens. If I upgraded to an NFL remote with the UHF antenna, are they more responive?

You can just get a RF remote to control your receiver. This way you won't have to point the remote directly at the receiver.
You may already have RF remote. Check the number on the top left or look for a FCC sticker on the back. If you you have the sticker you have an RF remote already. Just plug in the RF antenna on the back of the receiver and change the remote control settings in the receiver's menu.
From what others have said, the response speed of the receiver is slower then some but, it doesn't bother me. These are great units in my opinion compared to what some others offer.
