How to amplify signal?

You can buy the 20 db gain model but it probably won't improve the signal quality at your remote locations that are only 50 cable feet away. It does give you some extra sig if for instance at your remote locations you also have a VCR in line before the sat sig reaches the tv. VCRs can have 5 or 6 db loss even when off so the extra 10 db might be useful. I don't know of any tv that will have trouble with a single channel at a level of +15 or +20 DbMv. Now if you have 70 analog channels at +20 feeding a TV it's possible to overload the tv tuner causing more distortion in the picture than what was present at the input of the tv set.

That's not what you want. It's not made for analog chnl 3 signal really but for the signal between the dish and the receiver. For one thing the chnl 3 or 4 output of the receiver does not have the voltage present that is needed to provide power to this amp.

You want a 110 volt powered amp designed for TV signals from 50 to 550 or 900 Mhz not an amp designed for QPSK signals between 900 and 2150 Mhz that's inserted into the line between the dish and the receiver.

How about a Radio Shack 15-1960 or 15-1113? Ones for cable channels the other for UHF and VHF. Both will work fine on ch 3 or 4.

That is a question that you really won't know the answer until you try it, you can actually overdrive the signal!!

If you try that amp 20db gain and the sets closer to the split look bad you could be overdriving them!!
