How often can you upgrade equipment?

I'm considering D* and am wondering, how often are you allowed to upgrade a receiver, whether in a contract or not? Is it whenever you are willing to pay the upgrade fees? Or is it screwed up like E* where you can only upgrade when they decide you can?

For example, let's say I sign up with D* and get one HD-DVR and one standard receiver, but then 6 months down the road I decide to purchase another HDTV and upgrade the standard receiver to another HD-DVR. Is this allowable as long as you're willing to pay?

As far as i know if you are an A list customer you can upgrade every 6 months... thats what CS told me anyways

OK, thanks. Along those lines, what makes you an A list customer? I've seen some posts about customers having certain ranks. How does all that work?

all you have to do is have your bill payed on CC and you will be "A" list.

every 6 months you will get a discount upgrade deal, if you re-up from that date for 2 more years.

Right, you don't have to be "A" list or wait six months if you are willing to pay full price for everything.
