I really think Dish Network is a tremendous value. I offered a couple co-workers information about signing on Dish Network, with the current offer. I got one taker.

The other one said he had a box that allowed him to get the service free. but it had been "zapped" by Dish. But now he just has to go to some hacker who will reprogram the smart card. I was a little bit surprised and disappointed that he told me that, but I was curious how much of a problem signal theft is for Dish Network. How successful are they in turning the illegal boxes off?

How many of the people here have heard of this?

depending on his receiver he may be in for a bad surprise. anyway... the newer boxes are supposedly harder than hell to hack. I couldnt tell you off hand but from dish going with all this anti piract releases recently i can only assume its getting harder. Another thing to consider would be an anonymous tip.

That is a subject we dont talk about here. Pirarcy is bad.

With that said Dish is making some major changes in its security including starting a smartcard swap rollout. Yes pirarcy happens but soon it won't or at least it will be MUCH harder.
