How much is the Hopper upgrade costing you?

I wouldn't say the fees are all over the map. There are basically two different pay structures. Obviously prices will vary depending on how much equipment some are getting and if they are on the protection plan.

And how long you have been with Dish, your credit history, how ofter you've been perked, and the biggie....how much money you spend with Dish every month. It's like most everything, "follow the money". ;)

HI all.

Long time Dish customers here in Alabama. Would love to know how much the dish hopper/joey system would be for us. At the moment, we have a 722 DVR in the living room and a 211 HD box in a bed room. But, if we move to the hopper system, how much would it be if were to add all 4 tvs in our home and get rid of the 722 and the 211?

Thanks!

Well I got a deal from dishdepot.com for a hopper/2 joeys and a free node for $568.00 with NO TAX and my trade in value for two 211ks and a 722k is $250.00, so I'll pay just $368.00 total for the whole deal. So I own the entire thing. Not too much for the entire system. The boxes are coming this afternoon , I install it myself Saturday morning. I just hope I can get it to work before noon and before the rain starts.

Not bad! I am looking into adding a third Hopper. I currently have 2H/2J. So I am looking into buying 2 switches (a DPP44 and a DPP33) plus a Solo Node (to add to the existing Duo Node) for ~$600. I will be getting the Hopper and switches from Amazon.com. The Hopper is $400 and the switches are around $80. The Solo Node will be purchased from Solid Signal for around $40. Then there's $50 (total) for expedited shipping. I will be returning a Joey when I get the third Hopper.

That is the best they can do for existing customers that want 1 Hopper. It's not really all that much compared to how much a non-leased Hopper costs.

2 H/1J - no charge :)
Check back when your next bill shows up. It seems there are (were) a few Dish reps who were leaving out the word "upfront" when telling customers the cost, i.e. "No sir/madam, it will cost you nothing (insert 'upfront' here) to upgrade".

I can't say for certain, but it appeared that $100 was the LOWEST anyone was getting this upgraded for, which isn't anything to really complain about. That's what they've told me it will cost but I'm waiting for the OTA tuner.

My dish bill had the $100 fee on it so I called an complained. I told the CSR that I was told since I signed a new 2 year commitment the hopper upgrade would be free. Looking back on it I repeated to the original loyalty rep the free / no cost for the deal and he kept saying there would be no upfront fees. Any normal customer would assume that meant no upgrade fee but I would still pay the regular monthly lease fees. No upfront costs don't normally mean don't pay today on install but instead pay on the next bill. If the CRS had not removed the fee from my bill, I would have felt that Dish had conned my an I would have told all my friend that and I would have left Dish after being a customer for almost 10 years.

Their use of the phrase "no upfront cost" is designed to con their customers. :(

Be careful using dish pause. I was quoted $100 upgrade a few months back -put our account on dish pause for a couple of months - then was quoted $400 for upgrade to 1J/2H. Although no one at dish could confirm - it had to be dish pause that triggered the higher upgrade cost.

Took a few calls, but finally talked to retention/account specialist who was able to make the upgrade happen for $100 (supervisor permission). I figure I am a 11 year customer. I also spend about $95 a month - so $95*10 / 12 = $80 a month average- so I was still spending a good bit per month including 2 months of dish pause.

Dish ability to make things like this happen - even if it takes a bit of work- is one of the reasons I am still a customer after 11 years and figure I will be customer for much longer.

My offer was two hoppers and two joeys for 100.00- I have a credit on my bill for 100.00 right now, i imagine i'll see 200.00 charge on next bill or maybe not!!

called retention for Father in law and 1 hopper and 2 joeys were free, but he had to join the protection plan for at least 3 months or he would have to pay for installation.

My offer was a Hopper with Sling w/no Joeys (we want to sling to our Desktop PC and get rid of the old TV) for $100 and no commitment. I said no thanks, and was transferred. The second offer was the same set-up for $0 and a 2-year commitment. Was charged $15 for the install. Not bad :)

$100 is pretty dang cheap for no commitment. Glad you're all set though :) .
