Ok. I admit. I am totally naive in the satellite TV side. I am an existing cable subscriber, who just bought big screen HDTV. So looking for DirectTV. They offer 4 room/reciever installation. But they do charge $5 per month for the second and additional reciver.
Currently i have 3 TVs (2 of which we use and 1 is for my kid's DVDs). I also have a multi media computer which i can use to watch TV programming. But i dont want to pay $5 for each of the recievers when i wont be watching more than 2 of these TVs actively.
So long story short, i am looking for adding only 2 recievers. If later on i want to add additional recivers, will they charge for installation? AM i doing something wrong here?

BTW, the additional $100 off for new customers is gone from today. Shall i wait for another new deal. Currentlyu Choice Extra + HD will be costing me $55 per month. This is not even with DVR service.

Hello, and :welcome to the site !

Get rec's installed at the TV's you actually use.
The first one in the main, the second is an addl. rec (leased) the $ 5 charge is to transfer the programming to it.

$ 55 is about where the pricing starts this day and age, they are all that way, D*, DISH, Cable ect.
The nice thing is if you add DVR it's $5.99 and that covers ALL of your DVR's on the account, so any addl's will not require another $ 5.99 ...

When you call, if you mention the pricing they often will give you a discount (10 off p/m for 6 months), sometimes more, sometimes they will give you credit for a Movie Channel for 3-6 months, depending on the particular promo going at the time.

There's normally 3 different promo's going.
1. when you order online, 2. when you Call in and a third if you purchase from a local retailer.

Thanks for the reply!!
I have two HDTVs. So i would like to order two HD recievers. Can i add the DVR service later on? Do they charge for any installation at that time for that?

Also currently they are charging $99 for HD DVR. Does that mean that HD DVR is ours? Or is it still leased equipment?

You could add later but you need two cables running from the dish for DVR and only one for an HD receiver. They probably would not charge you to run the second wire when you upgrade.

It will be leased. As recently as Wed. they were charging $299 to existing customers and $199 to new subs. Don't be stingy on this one get at least one DVR you will love it. At $99 it will be well worth it. Good luck with your setup.
