How many Hoppers and Joeys are allowed?

I called Dish the other day to inquire about adding a 2nd Hopper 3. I currently have 1 Hopper 3, 1 4K Joey and 3 wireless Joeys. When I got to the right department, I was told that I would have to have a total of 6 Joey type receivers befor they would allow me to purchase and add the 2nd Hopper 3. I see a lot of members here with less than 6 Joeys on their account. What gives?
Another forum member recently reported that he called retention and threatened to cancel service if they did not activate a second owned H3 for him. I believe he was successful in getting it activated. Wasn't that long ago.

I remember quite awhile back, another member had to do the same thing in order to get a purchased Hopper 3 activated on the same account as a ViP222k. I didn't have to go that far, but in my case having the ViP222k and Hopper 3 both activated at the same time results in loss of DVR functionality on the Hopper 3. I haven't fought Dish on this, since the lack of DVR functionality also allows me to avoid having to pay the monthly DVR fee. It is not a conventional setup, but it works for my needs.

I bought the first one a few years ago. I added the second one after they came out with the price change for owned equipment. The Joeys I have had for a few years also. I know that they are having a problem with receiver pricing. I guess I have been lucky no problems with charges. When I added it I confirmed the price and it’s been correct every month.

I purchased my H3 in 2017. I guess that is why I don't get the $5 deal for it. I never have gotten an answer from DISH on why not.

I pay 15 for the first hopper than 5 for the second hopper also 5 each for the Joey .

A big difference is ewindowman is paying $15 for the DVR fee where I get $5 reduction in the DVR fee because of my 2 year agreement.
So once again I ask is anyone getting the $5 Hopper3 purchased price for their second Hopper3 while still getting a $5 reduction on the DVR fee for their first Hopper3?

have you tried calling cust. service to disable the purchased hopper (something you can do without issues since it is purchased), then calling back after a day or so to reenable it? This is not common since usually people do not have multiple leased Hopper's, but the receiver fee for a leased Hopper is $15, purchased is $5, which is waived for the first receiver unless of certain "circumstances". The DVR fee is $15 (or $10 if you are under some sort of contract). Pretty sure your problem is that there system is treating the purchased H3 as the primary, waiving the $5 fee, the second is the leased H3 getting charged the full $15, then the DVR fee

Haven't tried that. Maybe I will the Loyalty department when I get next bill.

Twice the advanced customer support disabled my purchased Hopper3 receiver and then reenabled it trying to get the $5 price. In both cases they were not successful. The latest thought they have said is that the computer will not allow the $5 reduction in the DVR fee that you get with the 2 year agreement along with the $5 purchased fee. They have now tried every month since February with no success.

Can you both check the equipment section on the dish app/webpage and after expanding the More Details option see in what order the H3's appear in? afaik the commitment gives you a flat discount to programing and $5 off of the DVR fee, so I doubt its the contract.
If the H3's are in the wrong order (Purchased H3, Joey(s), Leased H3 or P H3, L H3, J) that's the way the computer does the billing and its the same order cust. service sees it (I chat in almost daily, tell them to activate/deactivate the 2nd/3rd Wally on my account and it has never been wrong until now), if it is wrong then you need to have the purchased H3 probably removed from the account entirely then re-added since just disabling seems to not work.
If that does not work or the H3's are in the correct order (L H3, P H3) then Charles's theory about having added the H3 long ago might be right, and if that's the case you probably want to talk to DIRT because that might be an account level issue.

My Hopper 3s are in the correct order.

The order is the following
1) Leased Hopper3
2) Purchased Hopper3
3) Purchased Joey3

The Activation Date for the Purchased Hopper3 is 5/03/21. I actually purchased it and installed it in 2017. However the Advanced Dish Support had deactivated it from my account in February and then reactivated it in an attempt to get the $5 equipment fee. Then in May they did the same thing in another attempt to get the billing to accept the $5 instead of $15.
I will also tell you that they have escalated my case and no one has been able to solve it.
