I'm ready for this show to end. They need to go ahead and wrap it up and let us meet the mother this year and be done with it. The jokes are getting stale and the whole Barney man-whore thing is getting old. Especially since you know he doesn't care in real life at all about girls. They have taken this story as far as they can without just ending it.
This is scheduled to be the last season so you may have your wish. There are stories that CBS would like to extend the run but Harris, Segel, and Smulders all seem to be pursuing other projects. At a minimum the producers have indicated that we will meet the mother this year.

Didn't Derwin already say that he thinks it is Barney's sister? He is guessing like the rest of us.
As i recall he did not say who he thought it was just that she would definitely not be jealous of robin. I have no idea who he thinks it is or why Barney's sister would not be jealous of Robin. That is a common theory though.
I just thought taht since he as so positive about it that he might have some inside information. Besides he might just be having dun with us----and who could blame him.

I too would like to get past the whole "Who is the mother" thing. I am in the minority in thinking that the show could go on (if that is the decision) even after we meet her. But I have to admit that while I see lots of clues in episodes I think some are probably red herrings.

If you do a google search on "who is the mother in how I met your mother", you will come up with a dozen sites that try and speculate. They all say pretty much the same thing. Barney's half sister is the leading contender, but several of the sites also say that even the writers and production crew don't know who she is yet. It is a closely held secret of the show's creators. I'd say Derwin was messing with you, or has bought completely into the barney's sister theory.
Like I said he could have been playing with us----and I would not blame him. As for the Barney's sister theory I acknowledged that it is common but I have no idea if it is correct-----or even if was what he was alluding to. Like I said it does not really match what he said but anything is possible.
It is a long shot, but Ted is also scheduled to be the best man at Punchy's wedding. Given how they mess with us, that could still be a possible meeting place.

Based on everything that's been shown, I think it's Barney's sister. Pretty much fits every clue that's been given.
Also, the crew knows who the mother is, as the reveal scene with the kids was shot a couple years ago, so they could do it before they age too much (if you notice, you'll see that all the scenes with the kids have been using rehashed footage the past few seasons).
Nah, the kids are just a general reaction shot with a Bob Sagett voiceover. Any startled reaction shot will do.

The producers said way back in Season 2 they shot PART of the final scene. Not sure that they shot the entire scene or that they could keep it quiet that long.
But don't worry I have promisied the producers I will donate $5 million to their favorirte charity if they turn over that final scene and their college applications to me by Halloween.
