When the additional Dual tuner DVRs jumped to $17, it was because they got rid of the "free 2nd tuner/room" option. Additional outlets went from $6 to $7 and they added a $3 DVR fee. ($7+$7+$3=$17). The previous rate was very nice but you knew it wouldn't last forever, they brought it more in line with everyone else. It isn't like it was drastically more than everyone else, it is about the same, if not less.

I know I am being redundant, but get over yourself Bob. Even if Dish stops sending you adds, there are a lot of Dish/DTV marketers out there that will still be sending them to you, good luck stopping those.

There is no safe subject to talk to him about INCLUDING GARBAGE AND RECYCLYING! The garbage system has changed where we live and we are allowed only so many cans, so much stuff in the cans, only allowing the cans out for a certain # of hours before you get a ticket for not taking them in, how far from the road and how close they can be to each other blah, blah, blah.... Perhaps I will break down and get me a gift of ear plugs for myself but they will need to be speciality ones. When I do the driving Bob talks my ear off, so I really ONLY need one for the left ear. Unless of course we move to the U.K. or I get a job delivering his junk mail in a truck that has the steering wheel on the right side of the vehicle. Rose

Yea they're REALLY foggy (for you)...because you don't even know who/what you're quoting - geeze!
If you re-read, I was ONLY correcting mfoster's (incorrect) statement about the Hopper's (NOT) ever being $17; I never said anything about ANY other model receivers - of which there ARE some models that have an A/O charge of $17, of course.
Waáàaaaaaaay back b4 the hopper..721

Junk mail is just a daily thing. It doesn't matter if it's Dish, DirecTV, the cable company or any other business sending out direct mail. That is just what mail is now. Do what I do, have your recycling bin near your mail box. When I get home I open the mail box and separate the junk mail from the good mail and through the junk straight into the recycling bin.
Let's not forget Verizon, Sears.......

I recall when the price increase for the second VIP 722 jumped to $17. That's when I dropped having two DVR receivers. Seems like it was before 2010 though, because I had a tree hit by lighting in the late summer of 09 and had to replace ONLY ONE 722 because the modem got fried.
I have the image captured off of this website that outlines all the changes and it clearly says 02/01/10 at the top of the Monthly Additional Receiver FEEs

And considering the pay TV industry has been losing subs steadily since 2010, the "policy" doesn't seem to be hurting them as much as you would like to believe.
As I stated above, they seem to be losing and re-gaining the same few thousand or so subs back and forth. They are basically standing still. That isn't good for long term growth no matter how you slant it Kab.

True of course you need growth at some point, but you have to look at how the industry is doing and that works both ways. Before deciding a company is doing well, you have to know how others are doing, as well as if you think they are not doing well how others are doing.
TWC lost 900,000 TV subscribers in 2013. Comcast about 210,000. However they each lost about that the year before also. As you said DISH has at least kept the status quo for sometime now in an industry losing subs.
(Be careful looking up statistics, to make themselves look better many times the Cable figures quoted include internet subscribers where subs are up)
