Hey everyone,
I have a quick question that hopefully someone can help with. Last week, I upgraded to the HD system via DirecTV customer retention. They upgraded me to the triple-LNB dish and the installer brought me a Sammy 360 HD receiver. Problem is, it's terrible at picking up and holding a signal on my local OTA digital channels. I'm in a major metropolitan area (Atlanta), approximately 10-12 miles from all of the broadcast towers. What I'm seeing is mostly a black screen with a "no signal" message, mixed with constant pixellation dropouts. The built-in signal meter jumps randomly between 0%, 45%, and 70%. Topography really shouldn't be an issue where I am located.
So, with all that said, is this a problem with the box? If so, what is the best way to convince DirecTV to switch it out with a Hughes HTL-HD, not another 360? Has anyone convinced D* to take back the "old" box and allow a credit to purchase a different model?
If it makes a difference, I do subscribe to their monthly equipment protection plan. Please let me know if I can provide more information. I'm pretty new to all of this.
Thanks,
adam
