intesting cause that around the time I original tried to do this. they said said it would not work. Does hopper plus serve both h3?

Oh I actual talk mutiple people at loyalty department before I managed to get hold supervisor, I was gona get 2 hopper plus so both my h3 has access to hopper plus stuff. along with 2 joey 4 to replace the 4k joeys.

48 hours later I call from some "head" tech department saying, "we" cant do 2 hopper plus with vague reason why, I asked if they could do 1 hopper plus to server both h3. he said they dont know they can try if they cant they will just replace 4k joeys with joey 4...

24hours later the tech came told me he cant do any of the above and joey 4 require the hopper plus. At the point I was annoyed and pissed cause left hand dont know what right hand is doing and brain is oblivious what happen.

Seeing I was have lots scrambling happen at time told the guy to check my lnb signal and realign things, even show him scrambling that was happen ( on clear day) he went and look at dish and said wires where lose and LMB has water in them. and in process replaced all the switchs and hubs i had same parts. which kind fixed that issue also had a microfreezing issue on both hopper 3 and joeys attached to them, that only happens in live tv, i where to rewind to same place there was microfreeze there would be none. that issue is still there though. also send something about system was not grounded so he grounded it

Hopper Plus is for the Hopper it is attached too only. Does not serve the other Hopper. J4s & WJ4s do not need a Hopper Plus to function. They will have all the Google stuff.

so wait joey 4 have google streaming stuff built in to them? and hopper plus is only for h3 to have google streaming stuff?

Correct on everything. The Hoppers have some Android files that need to be downloaded in the tools menu for the Joey 4s to work. Maybe someone else can help help here as I am not an installer. I suggest you have a DISH technician to install the Joey 4s incase there is issues with downloading the Hopper Android files.

I can just get 2 joey 4 and tell my mom if she want to stream stuff she watch in her room, which would be great as my dad would have is tv back. I just want joey 4 so can disable tv internet so i never have worry about tv updates busting functions on tv with every update. see watch most streaming threw my tv cause just netflix and amazon prime have issue threw dish, then i cant finally disable internet my tv,

My J4s feel cooler to the touch than the 4KJs I use to have.

thats bonus! will see what happen when i call to re apply bonus, I original had all this setup to be with ZERO cost to me for anything. maybe they just didnt want give 25+ year customoer the upgrade for free..

Joey4 does not require hopper plus. I'm not sure why so many techs think that. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use two hopper pluses. The plus is basically an add on interface and not an actual receiver. All communication is still done through the main hopper unit. So shouldn't be a problem function wise but getting dish to let you have two is another story. You may have to buy the equipment instead and then call dish to activate.

I'll be happy when the H4 gets unveiled so we can see the same software as the Joey 4's and be done with the headache that is the Plus

maybe when they do h4 they write software so as the joeys all have own recording and timers ( aka act like there solo boxes if one wants it) 16 tunner means there could 4 tv with use of 4 tunners.

I really mis solo boxes and have my own timers and own dvr that isnt shared, you know how much my OCD is trigger by have shared timers and shared dvr? I like to record my shows then delete them, other people house like to watch and never deleting. it one reason why ihad 2nd h3 put in system so all dvr or seperate from everyone else, well other then the reducancy if everything going threw one box if box goes everyones tv goes. And over years i had plenty of solo dvr box and hopper boxes replaced due to hdd failure.

I suspect the Hopper Plus is designed to outlive satellite TV. So an H4 might be expensive overkill. Might keep revenues flowing to Dish.

In their systems that is correct they require a Hopper Plus to have a Joey 4, yet technically you do not need a Hopper Plus for a Joey 4 to work properly. Their reason for it is so all the TV's have the same features.

I know this policy is something that they were looking at revisiting before, but now with the Hopper Plus's working so well there is no need not to have one on the Hopper.

I don't know of a technical reason why if you have two Hopper 3's why you can have two Hopper plus units, as they are not servers feeding the other clients, they are just basiclly a box with overlays Google TV on top of the Dish experience.

Look, jeez, get the Plus, activate it but don't install it. It's not costing you one cent to have it. Then you have a perfect Hopper 3 and the Joey 4's with the Android OS on them.

will at later date i not mood to talking them in to give this stuff again at no charge to me, let alone get hold of someone that actual will. As did it over 6 months ago and was told it cant be done when tech came out.

I just redid the 40$ discount I had for another 6 months and left thing as is. seeing my dad tell me he want to drop everything to basic or even drop dish cause he starting to have to drop thing just to keep prices low. even with discount i have costiantly applied he keep saying it to much. it normally a $200+ bill

I just deal with dish for him, and have been general have $40 to $60 worth of discount constantly reapply to account. I think if i wasnt doing this for him he probably would drop dish by now. I personal dont really what dish much other then what I DVR and most that stuff i can just watch online streaming. and would switch to roku box.

Each Joey 4 is its own streaming box. The apps you install on one will not automatically show up on another Hopper 4 in your house.

For question 2 yes she would need a Joey 4 on each TV to have the Android TV apps on them.
