Hopper/Joey - need to be plugged directly into wall?

Probably the first of many questions about my 2H 4J setup that was installed on Thursday.

When they were setting up the units, the installer said that they needed to be plugged directly into the wall as opposed to a power strip. Is this correct?

It is seriously messing with the placement of some of the units next to my TV's - some are really messy now, especially since the power cords for the Joeys are pretty short.

So does anyone have them plugged into power strips?

Also, if I unplug them, are there any specifics steps I should take when I plug them back in so everything sets up correctly again?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Power strips should not matter. Unlike the older Dish receivers, the Hoppers and Joeys do not use house power lines to communicate. The installer was probably just treating the new gear the way he had been taught for the VIP receivers.

I have 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys and none of them are plugged directly into an outlet. They are either plugged into surge strips or extension cords. No issues in my house.
