they're probably saying the same thing. Vivek is probably saying that previous errors with artifically low timers has been resolved and MattG is just saying what the limits are.

The grid I have still shows the same 96/576. I don't believe that this was increased, but changes were made so the cap is harder to hit. I'm hoping Vivek can clarify

Dumb question time (since I have never used them). Does anybody really need manual timers if the guide for OTA channels and subchannels was complete? I would guess (having never used them) that setting up a manual timer is only half the battle, because then you need to rename the program to something evocative, rather than "Digital Service". I've never renamed a program, either.
I sometimes use a manual timer when recording a programming marathon...say 4 episodes of the same program back to back on the same channel. It helps with avoiding conflicts or having individual episodes being cut off due to hard cuts.

I would love it if you could set up a manual timer with the name of the show you wanted. So you could get a named program in the shows recorded instead of digital service. Great news on DISH working on manual timers . I hope that when the release ota , that manual timers will be included at the same time.
Yes. The recent Olympics is a perfect example. It was usually listed in the guide in huge blocks, simply stating "XXX Summer Olympics". So, it was impossible to just record a specific event.
Not that having Manual timers would have helped in that case as you didnt know when specific events were going to air.

But they didn't ways stick to it. Some events would go into overtime and then the whole thing was off until the end of that specific block. Then there were other days where it was just out right wrong.
So? If I had the ability to add manual timers, I would have certainly padded the start and end times.
But, I didn't have manual timers, so it's a moot point.
Do I need to re-create my timers after the S221 update? I have 25 "real" events over the next week, but it shows 274 events if I don't hide skipped ones.
When I set up manual timers for the Olympics using Dish Remote Access (the website, not the app), the Hopper named each recording "XXX Summer Olympics", not "Digital Service". I set up one manual timer for each channel (NBCSports and the Basketball channel on one Hopper; NBC and MSNBC on the other Hopper) for each day to cover the whole thing (9 to 16 hours each).
I would also prefer to be able to name the timer, but at least the Hopper did name it what it was. However, if the guide was incorrect the Hopper would probably name it what it thought it was instead of correctly naming it.
