Hopper 3 software version 389

The only difference is that the top port is USB-3 while the bottom is USB-2. But it shouldn't matter as the Hopper can only support USB-2 speeds
Huh. I couldn't see the back when I moved the cable, but I thought I plugged it into the USB3 port because I have my AirTV adapter plugged into the hub on the Seagate. Aha. I found a picture on Solid Signal:

Theoretically, being that the AirTV and the EHDs are only USB-2, it shouldn't matter which plug you use. I guess that Dish put in USB-3 for future-proofing, then un-proofed themselves.

Another update to my disappearing EHD problem:
  1. Received new(?) Hopper3 replacement. If it's not new, it's in pristine condition.
  2. Updated old receiver from 389 to 390 just to see if the EHD would make an appearance. It didn't.
  3. Saved receiver settings to 40 remote.
  4. Unplugged old H3.
  5. Moved all cables to new H3.
  6. Powered new H3 and suffered through endless tests and updates.
  7. Restored settings from remote. H3 asked to scan OTA channels which went much much faster than I ever saw before.
  8. Plugged old receiver in and set up Ethernet transfer from old to new. Estimated 2 days for 494 events.
  9. EHD still does not appear on new receiver. Boo hiss.

Give it a few days, like let it do all the transfer old to new and then try to plug the EHD in. Remember the old proverb, new Hopper, even to you, needs a few days to settle in.

I thought I'd check on the number of "events" it has via DishAnywhere. But when I select DVR it says "Something Went Haywire. We are unable to connect to your receiver." Boo hiss. How long before DishAnywhere can connect to the "new" receiver?

Have you finished your transfer between the two Hoppers? If not I'd wait for that to finish before I tried anything like Dish Anywhere or adding EHDs.

No idea. I am living in Manassas and my receiver is still in Fairfax. That's why I tried DishAnywhere to see how many programs had been transferred. DIshAnywhere still shows the old receiver number and gives the "Something went haywire" messge. My.Dish shows the new receiver online and with a different receiver number.

The new receiver transferred 492 events out of 494, which difference is probably two programs I deleted before the transfer completed. Still no EHD shows up. So I did some more experimentation with the EHD's I have from my 722 and 625 days. Both show up and work with the new receiver. When I unplug them so that the 6TB Seagate can appear, it still does not. This argues for an issue with my Seagate. fsck here I come.

Sigh. Just discovered my H3 will not xfr from an EHD. I can see the recordings, and watch remotely, but that's it. If I try to go to select titles to transfer (red button) I just get a screen with no recordings listed.

Hope this gets fixed soon. But after my other EHD problems, I doubt it will ever get fixed.

My patience with Dish has thinned considerably.
