Hopper 3 software version 389

The only difference is that the top port is USB-3 while the bottom is USB-2. But it shouldn't matter as the Hopper can only support USB-2 speeds
Huh. I couldn't see the back when I moved the cable, but I thought I plugged it into the USB3 port because I have my AirTV adapter plugged into the hub on the Seagate. Aha. I found a picture on Solid Signal:

Theoretically, being that the AirTV and the EHDs are only USB-2, it shouldn't matter which plug you use. I guess that Dish put in USB-3 for future-proofing, then un-proofed themselves.

Another update to my disappearing EHD problem:
  1. Received new(?) Hopper3 replacement. If it's not new, it's in pristine condition.
  2. Updated old receiver from 389 to 390 just to see if the EHD would make an appearance. It didn't.
  3. Saved receiver settings to 40 remote.
  4. Unplugged old H3.
  5. Moved all cables to new H3.
  6. Powered new H3 and suffered through endless tests and updates.
  7. Restored settings from remote. H3 asked to scan OTA channels which went much much faster than I ever saw before.
  8. Plugged old receiver in and set up Ethernet transfer from old to new. Estimated 2 days for 494 events.
  9. EHD still does not appear on new receiver. Boo hiss.

Give it a few days, like let it do all the transfer old to new and then try to plug the EHD in. Remember the old proverb, new Hopper, even to you, needs a few days to settle in.
