I'm looking to lower my monthly rate and saving $12 per month on locals would help. I remember reading about the dual tuner OTA dongle for the Hopper having a heat issue and problems watching OTA on the Joeys. Has that all been fixed? The latest OTA dongle from DishDepot is advertised as being the newest, from October, 2018.

Short answer. The air tuner works great. Buy one &its cool to the touch.
I was going to order the AirTV tuner from Amazon. However I see there in ALL CAPS that it says not for Dish Network Receivers.

In addition, Scott (owner of this site) has posted that the Air TV tuner is exactly the same inside (same electronics) as the Dish version.
Probably because they don't support it but it works anyway.
Air TV wants to sell you the player package for a hundred dollars. I will give you one guess on who owns Air TV.
That one shown will not work, its not the dual tuner model.
Works fine on my two of my accounts in my name, on my hopper 3 and my parents Wally.
The dual tuner AirTv dongle has a 12 inch pigtail on the USB end of the connector not directly on the unit itself
