I am being charged $10 a month extra because i don't have a land line phone. I was told I could hook the box wireless to the internet through my router. I have a vip722 receiver. I just bought a Netgear Wireless-g usb 2.0 adapter. when I plug it into the box it has an error "unsupported device" Please help

Here's a link that deals with network issues for a E* receiver:

Networking Question

You may want to do a search as well to find more info. Basically, a wireless adapter will not work in the usb slot of the receiver. It will only recognize external hard drives and jump drives. You need to use the ethernet port for your networking or use a HomePlug device which is built in so some E* receivers.
