HITS2Home on Galaxy 16 KU to end this summer

I checked out AMC18 yesterday and only found the Music ITC. I don't have any HITS subscription. All I currently subscribe to is the Movie Lovers Pak from NPS, so I wasn't expecting to get anything. I'm suspecting that ALTV and that Kung Fu channel may still be on X4 when this is over. All by there Lonesome?

I know this fall I was able to get the free stuff on G11 real strong (+6.0 or so). The G3 mux was low (+4) but stable

The nets on AMC1 were strong but scrambled (obviously)

I dont remember what else I picked up at the time

If you were getting AMC 1 strong there's a chance AMC 18 will work.

AMC 4 is at 101, AMC 1 is at 103, AMC 18 is at 105 W. It all depends on which transponders are illuminated on AMC 1 and how much, adjacent satellite interference it causes. With the less the 10 db down, 2 degree sidelobes of a smaller dish there will be some issue. Feedhorn centering F/D and focal length will be very critical.

You know, the move to Cband from KU wouldn't be so bad if they didn't require such a large dish. If you look at some sats (like G23) there are some tps that are extremely strong on a 1.2m (70-80Q) and probably would be on a 1M. A 1M would make it HOA legal. Cband would eliminate the rainfade issues over KU. The biggest prob is with the bleedover from other tps from neighboring sats. Could that not be avoided by using a low band on Cband (3400-3700)? If you seperated that range with 4 Degs sat seperation, you may not see a interferance btw neighboring sats (I really only see in on my 1.2m on 2 deg (i.e 99-97). The low band is really only used on the atlantic sats so there really isn't anything up there over the US on that range

Different frequencys and 4 degree spacing sure would help. We have to remember though C band has it's frequencys alocated so that won't change. The thing about 2 degree spacing is to make it easy for cable headends to see multiple birds on one dish and to put as many birds up there as possible. C band is a commercial broadcast band which if you have the right equipment there are no issues. They are not going to change for the backyard dish owner since they don't want us there in the first place, sad but true. But heck we love to experiment. That's what makes it interesting.

anyone see any signels on amc18 the new satellite yet so i can tune my dish
