Hitachi to Release New Blu-ray Camcorder

After some not-so-wonderful reviews of their first Blu-ray camcorder, Hitachi is going to give it another go with the release of the DZ-BD9H hybrid Blu-ray camcorder. This improved model has a new 5.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, Picture Master Full HD processing, and brighter 2.7-inch LCD viewer. It will be released in Japan on February 12th for 180,000 yen (about $1,700).

Yeah, the BD camcorder is very appealing to me, just not the price. I just bought a nice new Canon digital camera, so the BD camcorders will need to come down quite a bit before I take one on.
