I am a Canadian who has been coming to Arizona for the winter for the last 20 years.
My main interest in this forum is Bell ExpressVu Satellite reception and OTA HDTV.
My first winter for Bell ExpressVu in Arizona was 2000 when I got all of my subscribed channels. The trouble started in 2005 when I lost about half the channels, and last year lost a few more. No signal on transponders 4, 8, 10, 18, 22, 24, and 26. The ones I miss the most are 400 TSN (The Sports Network) and 504 BNN (Business Network).
Bell is no help because we are not supposed to have those receivers down here anyway.

We have cable TV in the park where I live, but they don't and won't have HDTV anytime soon. I have a VHF/UHF antenna which I installed a couple of years ago. Have been wondering if it will bring in the HDTV stations from Phoenix or Mesa, about 27-30 miles away. I am going to change the coax from RG59 to RG6 and give it a try.

I've heard others in the Valley say they have had increasing problems with BEV reception.

At the risk of sounding like a salesman, which I'm not, if you switched to the "other" Canadian Satellite service, you would have no such problems. I do not have any HD TV, but the essentials package I have works just fine here, and I understand they have added some HD to it at no extra cost.

Hi,

I live in Phoenix (full year unfortunately) and dropped BEV for just the reasons you mentioned. I now have StarChoice and their signal makes it to Phoenix just fine.

Larger dish for BEV in Arizona?
