I am very happy to see that Diret TV finally added HGTV to the HD list.

However I was trying to program my dvr for some of my favorite shows ( Designed to Sell for example) and was disappointed to see that this show and a few others are not on the new HD channel.

Does anyone know why this is? I am curious.

Just like the Food Network and Discovery HD Theater (now HD Theater) HGTV isn't a simulcast of an existing channel. All 3 are unique channels. This is also why Food and HGTV are -1 channels.

what food network does is they tend to show only the hd shows on the hd feed channel....so if a show isnt in hd they will basically only show it on the sd feed channel (hgtv hd mite b doing the same me thinkx).

This is equally frustrating for me... I knew it was a different channel and that the programming would be different, but this was the one channel my wife was looking forward to and not a single show she watches is actually on that channel....

:(

No need for name-calling.... that being said, I'm ecstatic with my new HD lineup from D* (I now have 44 channels and I don't have any premiums or sports packages)... just making a statement about the one channel that my wife was looking forward to and the fact that it's not going to be what she expected...

I too have been disappointed by a couple of the HD channels but mostly when they take a show not filmed in or for HD and show it in "stretch-o-vision". That being said, my wife and I really enjoyed a number of HD movies and shows this weekend. Got lots of "wow....look at that" from her which kind of gets her over the "it's just TV" resistance I sometimes get. :D

I like HGTV and Food Network's concept of keeping SD and HD entirely different. Too bad some others didn't follow. Ah, but what I really want is for everything from here on out being produced, especially for television, in HD.
