I bought an Amazon recast a few weeks ago on Amazon Prime day. I bought the 4 tuner version with the 1TB hard drive (on sale for $179). So far, I really like it a lot. It was easy to set up, and it integrates nicely with my Fire TV stick. I like that it comes with a channel guide that includes all of the sub-stations. I tried it both wired and using WiFi, and it works well either way. The picture quality is very good. I also like that the recast box does not have to be near your TV. I have mine in my computer room next to my router. This location was also close to where I mounted the antenna, so I did not need a long cable run from the antenna to the recast box.
It does not have all of the features that my Hopper with Sling has, but it works well for recording my locals, which is why I bought it. I wish that it had a signal strength meter so it would be easier to point the antenna. When I was setting up my antenna, I connected it to my TV (which has a signal strength meter) so that I could point the antenna to get the best compromise between all of the stations that I receive. Also, you can't view recast on a PC, or while out of the home using your Fire TV. It only works out of your home on Android or IOS devices. These are only small problems to me, and Amazon might update the software in the future.
Overall, I am very happy with the recast.
