here we go again, DirecTv/AT&T about to enter yet another local channel dispute, this time, with CBS

We lost our local Fox station over a month ago over a dispute in Beaumont, Tx

It’s not that. I’m just getting sick and tired of these disputes. They do nothing but cost us money as us the retailer gets put in the middle of it
WCBS is back on this morning.
My tv says 1080i but the picture looks like 480i and it's letter boxed.

Let us know how it goes. My LCC couldn’t pick up my locals even though my TV’s tuner can.
Mine is due later today. I'll let you know how it compares to my AM21 on the same antenna and same DVR.
LCC arrived - I see no difference in reception between the LCC and my AM21. I'm going to leave the LCC connected for now, and try the AM21 on my HR-24 later.
Hopefully, the pre-amp I have coming from SS will help with the two minor stations that break up for me.
On a side note - I was impressed to see the antenna they include is the 'top of the line' Winegard indoor one (one of a few models they sell), and the amplified version to boot.

It is mind blowing that CBS is doing this.
Why must they charge more to a provider? Ultimately, the providers simply pass the costs on to us as end customers.
Also, with all of the radio stations that are available via the internet from all over the US (and the world), how much longer must this local garbage go on?
Sure miss the days of C-Band (and early DirecTV) when I was able to subscribe from Primetime 24 and get locals from the east and west time zones.
If I recall correctly, all of the owners of these smaller stations started freaking out when they thought we would be watching tv from a far, and their local advertising revenue may be questioned.
Time for a change...

I agree. I really don't understand how these locals get away with charging so much for their content, when its free over the air. Isn't advertising where they should be making their money?
They get charged by the networks, so your local affiliate pays CBS/NBC/etc a bunch of money for every cable/satellite/streaming viewer (I don't think they pay for OTA, but I don't know that for sure)
The networks raise their prices so the affiliates have to.
The money the networks charge mostly goes to pay for sports contracts like NFL, college football, basketball and so forth.
