Her generosity brings tears to my eyes

For an engineer, you have very poor reading comprehension skills. She made a donation to charity with the stipulation that the money goes to buying products from her son's corporation. What part of that simple concept do you find so difficult to wrap your head around.

Specifying which charities your donations go to, or to what purpose it is spent, is not the same as saying they must spend the money buy purchasing goods or services from a specific company.

A. Why do you keep ignoring that fact, and trying to spin some other image out of it?
B. Why defend such a practice?

gary, pull your head out of your *ss, it is her $$$, how about if she just bought the programs and distributed them, make ya feel better?? i dont see the c**t clinton giving any $$$

Why the insult about my reading skills? Why not just address the issues here-I have not insulted you.

I guess this is going nowhere, but to me it's their money and if they want to attach stipulations to part of it that would seem to be their right. They are not the only ones that do this according to the article. And remember, it was only part of the money that was earmarked for the program. They have probably given more money to charity in their lifetime than you and I will earn together. So why be so critical? Maybe because they are George and Barbara Bush and in your eyes they can do nothing right?

and profiteering, how about ms rodhams futures trading??

get real.
Got that right. Hillary offed Vince Foster, the poor SOB

Specific areas? Maybe. Specific corporations. That's just sleezy, like the bunnyman said. And to do it so brazenly, so openly, in broad daylight, is a hallmark of these elitist, arogant, entitled, profiteers.

Umm to do it openly in the broad daylight is the honest upfront way. perhaps you are too used to the sleazy dark closet ways of the Clinton years.

I am critical because it is merely a tax deductible gift to her son in the guise of benevolent action. The fact that you cannot or will not admit to the simple truth of such a clear and simple fact is what made me question your comprehension skills. And, I have no problem with the part of the donation that had no such stipulation. However, the part earmarked for her son's business is a sham and makes a mockery of charitable donations in general.

It makes no difference if it was Barbara Bush or Ted Kennedy. It's a bush move. Pun intended.

Guys you can not expect a liberal to debate the ISSUE, they stand for nothing, they can only spin to another subject or resort to name calling.

It only makes republicans angery when the name calling starts, dont fall into their trap guys. It is ALL they can do.

They are tring to start riots to stop the US from ENFORCING the laws already on the books!!!

When my wife's company forced her to sit through a united way fundraising meeting, we had agreed in advance that since they are anything BUT a nonprofit-charitable organization, we would earmark our money to a Animal rescue group (her company keeps track of who gives and who does not come promotion time, so they can get in the paper saying they give X amount of money at Y percent). Well the united way said they would not give the money to the group, only human groups, so she gave ZERO. Sorry, our money is not going to support more people living off the tit of the tax payers.

If you have an issue with people earmarking where the money goes then shut down the fund raising, If I were her I would give 100% to her son.

Wrong. I do understand and admit that her son benefited from PART of her donation. I just don't see anything wrong with that.

She is also an investor in the company. Seems like its going out of her left pocket and into the right pocket. I'm sure if I was flooded out of my house, I would probably want Neil's educational software over things like clothes, money, and transportation so I can find a job and move on with my life. Gotta love the Bush family. Everyone of them is a complete failure in the business world yet they know people in high places and get chance after chance.

Gary:
Would it be better (in your eyes) if she bought, say, $1 million dollars worth of the software from her son's company, and then donated it all to the school district? Or is that bad, too?

I really don't get what you're talking about. This thread is about Barbara Bush donating money which has a stipulation that the money be used to buy Neil's software. She also happens to be an investor.

I think it would be better off if Mama Bush would just right a check to her company and be done with it. I'm not sure if what she's doing is legal in terms of the IRS but it surely is unethical.

ken, i was responding to your post about the clothes and all, sorry you forgot you wrote it.

ken, keep on voting democrat.

serious.

keep voting dem.

Dragon ofcourse he could vote republican and continue to watch the deficit sky rocket. Its amazing how under Reagan and Bush this country cant pay its own bills and ends up owing trillions.

Yet when slick willie ended up in office he handed lil bush a surplus which has now been squandered.

keep voting republican..seriously keep voting republican.

Sorry dragoon, I don't vote for anyone. I treat everyone equally and if I find something unethical, I am not afraid to point out. What Mama Bush did was unethical.

oh yeah, reagan squandered money, rebuilding our military that jimmy "peanuts" carter decimated.

and bill "bj" clintons surplus was all on paper, spread over 10 years.

So, a former First Lady, Barbara Bush gives money, some of it earmarked for a product one of her sons is already selling to a school system, to a charitable organization for the use of improving Katrina school children.

Some of you want ot knock this? She gave this to her husband's and Bill Clinton's joint relief effort. And you have a pis#### contest because of Republican or Democrat ideaology?

This is exactly what is wrong with this country. Too much BITCHING and not enough pats on the back for doing anything posistive.

The Democrats would have been happier if the money had been given to a Chinese Software company (screw American Jobs) and the Republicans would only be happy if they got kickbacks from it!

Wake up and smell your future. Look at what is happening to GM employees! Better start thinking American or the mess over the Port deal will only be the tip of the iceburg!!
