Pansat 2500a and primestar dish(43"x40") and lnb(NJR2112F).
I am wanting to point to G10r. My zip is 63401. From what I can tell, to point my dish I should aim it to 224 azimith and 33 elevation, is this correct?
On my receiver, antenna setup, how do I know what type lnb to select? What about lnb frequency? also, what transponder do I select?
On my primestar lnb there are two connections, vertical and horizonal. which one do I use?
This is very confusing. Thanks for all your help

I have the same dish, the LNBF is old but it will work for H "or" V depending on what output you use, or you can hook up a DirecTV 4 way switch to toggle between polarities.

Use Standard LNBF settings L.O. = 10750

So if you hook up to the V side of the LNBF you can use the below coordinates for G10....

The Tube

11720 MHz.
V
27692 S/R

Thanks PSB.
I also have a question about skew. According to the chart you gave, the skew should be 32.3(for G10r). Does that mean I need to rotate my lnb anti- clockwise to 32.3? If so, how is this done? I am not at my dish right now but I don't remember an adjustment for that

You want to rotate the LNBF in its holder counter clockwise (looking from front of dish) 32 deg. But watch signal quality to get the best signal you can get. Moving the LNBF closer and further away from the dish may also help with the signal quality, remember signal strength means nothing. Good Luck.

Thanks again PSB.
I will have to look at the dish again tomorrow and see how to do that.
Theres a lot more to this stuff than I thought. But I will get it. Thats what hobbies are all about. I know once I figure it out, there will be no stopping me :D

OK, I finally got g10 going. The only problem is, I can only get about 5 transponders(1,9,12,13,14), for a total of 19 channels. I am using a primestar dish and lnb and have the cable hooked up to the "V" on the lnb. What do I need to do to get the rest of the transponders and channels?

Change to the H side of the LNBF and re-scan or if you want them both (H + V) at the same time you need a new LNBF, or I hear you can use a DirecTV 4 way switch. I just got myself a 40" Primestar dish and the first thing I did was swap out the LNBF.

I've got a Skywalker 4-way multi switch, is that the same thing? Its got places to hook up LNCa and LNCb, an antenna, and outputs to 4 receivers. If that will work, I could use it untill I get a new lnb. I hope I can find one to fit the mount on my dish.

Worth a try, I used a Universal LNBF on mine (For Pas 9). I cracked the casing off and it fitted perfectly. The casing on most LNBF are just for show, the LNBF is still water tight without it.

Thanks PSB. I probably won't try untill tomorrow. Its getting too late to mess with it tonight.

OK, I went ahead and switched from V to H and did a scan and got 3 more channels. I am still not getting all the transponders. I also noticed that Lyngsat list 24 tps on g10 but my receiver only shows 14
I am getting all the channels that Lyngsat shows on tp 5 but my setup shows 0 quality for that tp. I can't get any of the channels it shows for tp1(it also shows 0 quality). I said earier that tp1 was one that I was getting but I made a mistake, actually it is tp2 that I am getting instead of tp1. Any ideas why I can't get these? Maybe I just need to fine tune the dish or maybe the lnb is just too old?

I haved noted that the feedhorn part of the LNBF on my P* dish is shapped liked the dish itself. I assume this is to match the shape of the dish and get the most signal to the LNB?

Hey Pete and Ken,
With a Primestar dish, wouldn't you have to rotate the whole dish for skew and not just the feed since it is shaped to match the elliptical dish? This would not matter on a pizza dish, right?

My 40" primestar dish came with a LNBF cover (roughly same shape as dish) I removed it right away, its purely for looks and maybe to keep the worst of elements out. (and keep wasps in)

If you are getting good signal quality from some TP. then the dish is aimed correctly. At this point the LNBF and/or your receiver is holding you back, maybe time to invest in a blind scan receiver if you do not have one yet.

A big 'ol' dish like that is crying out for a new low noise LNBF : )

This 40" Primestar I have can't be skewed, all I can do is skew the LNBF :(

I use a DTV switch that is a 3x4 switch, two inputs for V + H one for antenna.

My findings tonight

I am receiving on a Fortec Star lifetime ultra using a primestar dish, Model 84E by Channel master 40x30 with a LNBF that has both V&H feeding into a 3x4 switch. cloady night not raining, Central NY USA. This dish in on a second story porch floor.

The feedhorn stays fixed to match the dish. The LNB can turn on the feedhorn behind it.

And you were right about the "pizza dish", the LNB can be at any angle ( EVEN UPSIDE DOWN) as the signals are circular polarized (L/R).
