Help with Pre-Install Setup

I am preparing to have E* installed in a new two story construction and have a few questions regarding prep for the install. Here are some of the particulars. This house faces due South (the back of the house faces due North). In the illustration attached, you are looking at the East side of the house.

I have marked on the side of the house with a red area approximately where I have ran 6-RG6 cables for the SAT, OTA, etc. Now these cables are at the exterior wall in the attic but not through the wall yet. They run from the wall to a central panel centrally located inside the attic. I would like the cable from the SAT to terminate at this panel and then distribute to four locations. Each location has two RG6 Cables already run. One for SAT the other for OTA.

My planned equipment is 4- ViP 612s as I want HD-DVR at four locations.

Here are my questions:

1.) What will I need at the central panel for distribution?
2.) What would you recommend as far as mounting the Dish? Rooftop is not an option. I initially planned on mounting the dish on a pole which would extend up to the heighth of the cables as marked on the illustration. My concern is whether or not the front (South) of the house would have an impact on reception/aiming. If the dish will aim slightly East then I would think I would be fine? (I am in North Texas 75020 (Sherman, Denison area).
3.) Any of you installers in this are?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Side of house mount, no pen mount on roof, chimney mount, etc.. Why not let the installer have a look see and see what he recommends.

From Denison 75020 your satellites are to the South West so your cables are on the wrong side of the attic. IF pole or wall mounted where you put your cables the building will block your view. The West side of the house would be the probable location as long as roof mounting is not possible. The DNSC installers should be out of Durant so let them advixe you. Are you sure about your directions, IF NORTH is as drawn the red is on the WEST side not the EAST as you stated.

You are absolutely correct. The illustration shows the West side of the house, not the East and the cables are on the West side of the attic. Sorry for the confusion.

Since the location of the dish issue has already been addressed it seems there's really only the question of what you need equipment wise in your wiring box. I hope you have power to that box since you're going to need a DPP44 switch for your intended setup. If you were only going for three 612 receivers then you could possibly use a DPP33 switch (which doesn't require power) but since you're going with four you're going to need a DPP44 which does require power. Also I hope you do realize that unless E* has changed their promotion rules recently that you aren't going to be able to lease the setup that you want, right? From what I understand of current rules the 612 can only be installed (at additonal cost) if the customer has a 622/722 as part of the installation. So with the setup that you're looking at you're going to be purchasing all four of the receivers.

not true they say that but they never enforced it. i would call to verify your installation with the customer rep. u can have it installed but most likely their will be a charge.

if after all that u still agree verify equipment tell to add to notes so tech will know

1 dp44 switch u will be putting more than enough juice with 1 612 so with 4 their is no need to have the power adapter for the 44 plugged in.

If your lucky, you'll get one of the best installers that works the area and no he's not one of shotty dnsc techs from Durant. His name is John Haas and he works for cvc out of Durant. He's the kind of tech you need for this job...cream of the crop!

Fyi Dish will only allow 2 leased dual tuners per acct these 612's count as the leased cap of 4 rooms. Also if not known already these receivers only show picture on one tv. You can watch live tv & record live at the same time. These also require home phone connections so they can verify the receivers are actually there at the house. Also these only have 30 hrs hd/200 hrs sd with no pip. Also all the lines from the dish must be grounded externally befoe going inside therefore all the lines from the distribution box must feed outside. Personally I would would rather have four 722 receivers in single mode as they also have 55hd/350 hrs of record time. You need to call Dish & have them qualify you for either the 612 or 722 then You'll have to buy the third and forth receivers. Also as Dish if the Eastern arc dish is available and if it is then three lines from the dish to a Dp44 switch will run 4 receivers but if you get only three no switch is needed.

Order a CommDeck mount and have your roofer install it on the roof. You want to have it at a point where as much of the entire Clarke Belt is as visible as possible. You might not always have DISH and therefore you should consider the future need for seeing satellites all the way East and all the way West. Try to also have the dish at a lower point and near to the edge on the roof as some service techs are wary of getting on to steep pitches as well as working at height.

Also, have a ground wire available at the dish wiring point. At least a #10 copper wire that is properly bonded to your house power grounding system. If you're in a lightning-prone area, consider a larger guage of ground wire to help drain off even more static from the dish. Have your electrician also put a ground bus bar in the central wiring panel using a #10 copper wire.

Well, I spent several hours on the phone with E* on Friday trying to speak with an Account Specialist. From India (or where ever) to the USA, E* refused to connect me to an account specialist. Why do I want to speak to an account specialist? Because, back in February, I called to cancel my account as I was in the process of moving. I was transferred to an account specialist who talked me into putting my account into DishPause until I was ready to come back. He also gave me a great deal on an upgrade to a second 622. He gave me his name and ID and said when I call back to ask for an account specialist and only speak to an account specialist. That is what I tried for hours and it never happened!

With that said, I have read some posts on the 612 and have become a little nervous about it. So, for now, my plan is to just go with 2 722s and later purchase two additional 722s. I assume that I will still need DPP44 switch? Yes, I have power at my central panel.

I logged onto my account today, only to discover that E*, without my authorization, not only reactivated my account from DishPause, but did so at a higher sub-package and added HD package than what I had before. Unbelievable! Furious, I called to cancel and was immediately connect to the allusive "account specialist." So, after 8 years with E*, I am making the switch to D* over all of this.

I hope D* will be better.

By the way, apparently, the reactivation was done by one of the many CSRs that I spoke to on Friday when I was trying to get through to an account specialist.
