Hi,
I had German TV with GLOBECAST but unfortunately they will end transmission 7/31. I tried to get the Super DISH antenna but this was not possible. They don´t want to deliver the equipment to me directly. An installer came to tell me that DISH has to do it (even if I purchase the whole equipment), the dish has to be installed on the ground, trenches has to be dug, etc. etc. Can´t I just buy the equipment and set it up by myself ? If this ins´t possible due to U.S. regulations where can I get "GERMAN TV" / "PRO SIEBEN" (channels are on PAS9, INTELSAT AMERICAS5, AMC1 and ECHOSTAR9)

Who can help me / sell me equipment or tell me what to do ?
(I live across the border in Mexico but have a physical shipping adress in Texas)

GermanTV

The only way I know to get the GermanTV via Satellite is through Dish. I did the lease equipment option with the 180 channel setup plus the GermanTV channel. My wife and I subscribed to Prosieben for a month but didn't like it. I pressed ... diplomatically... to agree to install the Superdish at no additional cost and they did. Sometimes I think it's just who you're dealing with. I will tell you that I've been a long time cable subscriber and I'm just in awe with the clarity of the satellite signal. And that's not even HDTV quality.

Now I'm moving but they don't have my local channel coverage where I'm moving to, so that's a bummer. But they are going to set me up with a new Superdish in my new location. I just need to take my 522 and 322 receivers and remotes with me.

Thanks,

Tim

Ignoring where you live, one CAN buy their own equipment and self install a SuperDish. You will need a service address within the US to set up an account. If you are close to Texas you will probably get enough signal to allow the dish to physically work.

That being said, E* can only sell you the service if you live inside the US. You would be paying "full price" (whatever the market will bear) for your dish and receiver(s). Plus if E* (Echostar - Dish Network) ever discovered that you were not installed where you said you were you would be cut off.

That being said, people do have a 'service address' that isn't where they really are and get channels that by the letter of the law they would not be able to receive in their location. It isn't legal, but it is done.
