help to record on dvr

I have been trying to record the tonight show at 11:35. The problem is that there is also a show at 3:05. I have tried to record only new episodes but the 3:05 still records. I finally had to create a manual timer for the 11:35 slot. Is this the only way?

Highlight the time and channel you want and select mon-fri. You won't get later program but you will get repeats.
