Help Just bought new sony 34 widescreen picture looks bad

The dvd picture looks great but the dish picture is terrible. Looks kind of fuzzy and blotchy. I am getting good signal strength, am using the basic receiver. Can anyone tell me why the pic is so bad or any tips to fix? Thanks
