Hello Friends,
:)
I live in the Dominican Republic. I just bought a 6 fts dish along with a pansat 3500s equipment from a friend of my nearbourg, he used to get Dishnet programming from sat 110 and he told me that he just got cable service and sold the equipment to me for a very cheap price.
I did some reading in the internet and I want to get digital tv from some free channels available in a satellite named NSS-806 http://www.lyngsat.com/nss806.html (to Disney and Jetix channels in spanish for my kids)

Now I have the equipment, I want to setup the dish pointing to NSS-806, but I need your help to get started.
1- do I have to do any change to the LNB (DTV lnb) used by the previous owner?

2- do I have to do any change to the pansat 3500s receiver to get FTA programming ? (I think it was previously programmed to unlegally receive Dishnet channels.

3- in the page http://www.lyngsat.com/nss806.html some channels are shown as -F- (free tv) and others are shown as -DVB- and other channels are as powervu, I am new to this, would you please explain me which of those channels I could get with this equipmet pansat 3500s ?

I thanks you guys for your help in getting started.

I believe your LNB woun't work and you will need to re-flash receiver to factory settings. Not sure how that is done on your model.

Thanks guys for all those rapid answers.

So... I need to buy a c-band LNB... I guess I could get it at ebay. Among those channels shown in this page http://www.lyngsat.com/nss806.html which ones do you think I'll be able to get with pansat 35002 + c-band LNB ? and what is the difference between free and DVB channels shown in the page?

Thanks in advance for your help.

At a minimum it'd be a good idea to go grab the latest firmware at: http://www.pansatusa.com/download.htm. If you don't have the data cable to apply the update, that unit had an SD card reader that'll do it too.

Those channels you're shooting for on '3837 L' are Digicipher 2.

Short answer... your Pansat won't tune the channels as it is a DVB receiver. On Lyngsat you're looking for that yellow color and DVB for it be something you can tune. Keep in mind that FTA is always changing so what Lyngsat says is there often changes faster than Lyngsat updates.

Thanks for all that help friends, well... it looks like I was scammed by the seller. I have bought the wrong LNB and and wrong equipment to catch what the free signals shown at the Lyngsat page, now I'm paying for my big mistake.

Now I'd need to know: which equipment do I need in order to get those free channels shown by Lyngsat in freq 3837 (Disney and Jetix Latin American) ?

And... once I get the LNB + equipment and get those channels, how can I also catch other free channels in a differentt freq like freq 3980 shown in the Lyngsat page?

I'm sorry guys, I'm getting very confused now, I thought it was easier but I see that I'm just starting the a-b-c about this hobby. It's a challenge and now it's getting even more interesting than ever to me.
Thanks for your help
