I have a standard old setup, Dish 300 pointed at 119 with a dual LNB. I currently have 2 receivers hooked up I am looking to connect to a 3rd. The receivers are a 301, 3700, and a 3900. If I understand the 2 4 digits are older legacy receivers. Can I run one line from the dish and split it to the 3 receivers using a 34 switch. Thanks B

Not sure what a legacy 34 switch is. The Dish solutions are an SW44 or SW64. But for a single satellite setup you can get by with a standard mutiswitch (1 in, 4 out) found in the DirecTV accessories section of your favorite store. Once you add a second satellite you will have to use a switch from Dish.

He might be referring to the same thing you are, which is NOT a 1-in, 4-out, but a 2-in, 4-out, plus OTA input diplexed into the 4 outputs (therefore generally referred to as a 3x4 switch).

The 2 satellite inputs are for odd(13V) & even(18V), and they work fine for Legacy E* single satellite setups (as you say). That is, it can convert a Legacy DUAL LNB to a Legacy 4-output LNB.

I can think up some nifty Legacy configurations using 3x4 swithes and SW64s - like 3-birds to 8 tuners. :)

Would a quad LNB work as well, I already have the 3 lines running into the house. Thanks for the help. B

I do have a 500 dish being used in the standard set up, pointed to 119. If I get another dual lnb and line it up to get both 119 and 110, what exactly would I need to get into today's more common setup......... The receivers are a 301, 3700, and a 3900 and I already have 3 lines running into the house. Thanks B

I would get a Legacy quad LNB. This will give you both 110 & 119 with up to 4 recvers.

If you use 2 duals, then you need a SW44 or SW64 switch....quad is easier :)

The OP said he has a Dish300. A quad wont fit on a dish300 arm.

down in the thread he mentioned he had a Dish500

technically if he has a Dish300 with the "d" tube, he could put a quad on there....it might not recognize 110 but it would 119 :)

OK I got a used legacy quad today. While it is still pointed at the 119 sat, I hooked up the quad and the 3 receivers, and..........nothing. I reconnected the dual and had a 103 strength. Can I get a signal using the quad pointed to one satelite or does it have to be used with the 2 satelite aiming (dish 500)...or did I get a bad quad. Again thanks B

Thanks all for the help! I tried switching the cables and running check switch and the receivers do not detect any switches. Even if I am not getting a signal the switches should be detected, correct? I guess I got what I paid for (used "working" quad on ebay. I guess I have to go to the next step and purchase a new one and give that a try. Again thanks. B

A little confused now. Reading thru some other threads, it sounds like just switching out the 2 old LNB for the Quad and leaving the dish pointed at the 119 sat will not work. If I understand, I need to allign the dish with the Dish 500 info with the skew, elavation and azimuth. I do have the y adapter that currently has 2 dual lnb hooked up. I have not yet tried to realign the dish with the 500 angle info since this could be a bad quad. Trying to get some more info before I go buy a new Quad. Thanks B

The quad "will" work, even if it only sees one bird.

I assume you did switch check?

That being said, go ahead and realign dish. There is no "down side".
Use the duals. Set the skew first. Then find either 119 0r 110 on the correct side and the other will be right there.

Then try the quad again!

have some questions before ordering the dish
