Old 97's - May 29
Lakewood resident David Cunniff was severely beaten last July by a skinhead at an Old 97's show at the Gypsy Tea Room. The attacker was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault. Cunniff was left with broken vertebrae and a pile of bills. HDNet caught up with the Old 97's as they played a benefit concert for Cunniff at the Lakewood Theater.
The Old 97's just finished recording their sixth album, Drag It Up.
"After tinkering with our limits on the previous five releases, I think we've settled in with what we do best on Drag It Up - solid writing and performances, with enough bells and whistles to make things interesting.
It reminds me of our earlier recordings, we mix bluegrass, surf, country, rock, folk and some good old-fashioned psychedelia," said Ken Bethea, lead guitarist.

Zippo Hot Tour - Grand Finale - May 8 , 10:00 pm ET

He now drives a cab through the streets of Philadelphia to make ends meet, helping his fares with their personal and criminal problems in effort to gain redemption, aided by his former partner-in-crime and on the job, Marcellus Washington (Andre Braugher), who remains on the force; his next door neighbor, Liz Garza (Jacqueline Torres), a former nun turned probation officer; and Jamie Farrell, a young former con man trying to go straight.
