Hi, everyone..

I'm new here, so good to meet you all.

Most of the posts I see here regarding HDMI ports failing on the receiver side. I have DirecTV with two of thier 99 HD recievers (Can't seem to locate a model number on the Web this morning, altho I can find lots of images). Anyway,I think i've had this setup about a year, maybe less. I've already had to replace one of the recievers as its power supply folded, but they aren't mine and and Direct dealt with it under warrenty.

What concerns me is that I have two HDTV's (Toshiba and JVC) with HDMI. Not long after i went with DirectTV (I left Comcast after they sold to Time Warner) the HDMI on the Toshiba failed. It's about 4 years old now, so i went component and did not think much about it. The failure was solid- It was like nothing was connected to the HDMI input; black screen. The same DTV box in the living roon worked fine. So the Toshiba's HDMI goes out.

Last night i got home and had similar issues with the Toshiba, (one of thier 56''), just put a lamp in it. Instead of a black screen, I get an attempt to get a picture, which may be nice for a second before the TV tried to resize it, or part of the screen goes dark for a second-In general what looks like noise. Replacing the DTV box and the HDMI cable did not help (I didn't think it would) so my conclusion is another sick HDMI input.

Does anyone knwo what is going on here? I don't know whether to go scream at DirecTV or call it a learning experience, have the TV's repaired, or what. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanx!

Chris

Don't know if it's a receiver or tv problem but you should get this post moved to the Direct tv discussion section. This is the Dish Network portion and most readers here will probably ignore this once they see it is in regards to Direct.
