I am a long time dish customer and would like to upgrade to HD. I have questions that are very basic but I am not real familiar with HD setup.

Currently I have a dish 500 with 2 4900 and one 508. I would like to upgrade the two 4900s to two 622s. Dish will only allow me to lease one 622 at a time. I was told when work order was complete I could either purchase a 2nd or see if I qualify for a second lease.

I have set up to replace one 4900 in a few weeks with a 622.

Questions:

1. Will my 4900 still work if they replace dish 500 with a dish 1000?

2. Will I be able to just purchase a 622 online and will wiring be the same as my current 4900, after my dish is replaced?

Thanks for any help from a newbie.

The 4900 will still work but you will probably need a Dish Pro adapter that lets older receivers work with newer dishes and switches(I think the 4900 needs these but I could be wrong). The installer should have one or you can pick one up at one of the sponsors here or ebay. The cable you have now will work fine for the 622. Its dual tuner but they use one cable and a seperator at the back of the receiver. Enjoy the HD!! :D

Thanks for the reply. That should make the switch easier. If Dish will not lease a 2nd 622, I should just be able to purchase one online. Now we just need to wait for HD.
