HD-Lite Class Action

As soon as very many have it

One thing to take note of is that through out forums like this one you will find out that Cable's HD sucks, DISHs HD sucks, D*s HD sucks, and many cities OTA sucks.
The only perfect solution riding into town without sin on a white horse is FIOS.
I wonder when the FIOS hating will start?
There are too few ppl that have it now to get much feed back. When this changes we will hear more b'in about it. Ppl will feel the same about FIOS as they do about their phone company's now.

Not Time yet

When they get the new sats up & MPEG4 running well then if they are still broadcasting in Lite it will be the time to file these complaints. Right now we are still in the transition stage and I feel we should wait. I would like to keep my 30 HD-LITE channels until then and not go back to 6 (or so) full HD's.

Both E* and D* are advertising HD and not delivering....

For that matter so are most cable companies.

Dish doesn't claim to sell HD anymore. It's "DishHD" with a "tm" after it. People need to get used to the change: "HDLite" is now officially "DishHD".

Everyone has a right to their opinion but, I am truly amazed that so many Americans have become so complacent and just accept mediocrity as evidenced by some of the postings in this thread. Everyone who has an opinion about HD picture quality by D*, E* and cable should be proactive and express their concerns via emails to the DBS and cable companies, networks, FCC or Congress and any other agency that can impact HD picture quality. It's easy and it's FREE. I may be generalizing but, I becha that many of the posters here, who take the adversarial position probably don't even vote in national or state elections and have a little tv complex

I received a reply back from the FCC stating this was an issue for the FTC. I just fired off a letter thanking them for their timely reply (useless as it may be) and asked that the FCC to fully define (as I did in my complaint letter) the High Definition standard so I can attach it to my pending FTC complaint.

Did anyone else remember to file their complaint(s)?

We talked about this probably being more of a Federal Trade Commission issue a long time ago. I wonder if 'ol Gary whats-his-name will pop in.:D

Absolutely, but in my original complaint I was asking the FCC to define "HD" and mentioned that I had filed a parallel complaint with the FTC. Needless to say, the FCC didn't address the "HD-Lite" issue raised in my complaint, and I wouldn't be surprised if the FTC told me the matter should be handled by the FCC.:o

FCC control

I think the reason that the FCC said it is the area of FTC is 2 fold. 1 FCC is really only considered in control of terrestrial. 2 the FTC is in control of complains that have to do with consumers that have been mis-treated.

Ok, I read a lot of this thread but not all of it so this may have been asked but I can't find it.

Can you people supporting Dish on HDlite explain something to me?

I am getting programming from 3 different satellites. Echostar bought VOOM!'s satellite. Why am I not getting the same quality off of 61.5 that VOOM! was able to deliver? They don't have to broadcast the SD's off that bird as I am already getting those redundant channels from 110 and 119. That equates to a lot of freed up bandwidth.

So why is the service level decreased on 61.5 when there is even more bandwidth there than when VOOM! had the bird?

Directv HD commercials

I know not many w/VIP622's see the commercials but have you been seeing the new 1/s for Directv HD. They have gone from the Star Trek beautiful pic insult. To "miss Brains" Jessica Simpson. Boy does she love to point out how stupid she is. Guess she just likes to walk off w/ the pay check. She is saying "it's in 1080i and I don't know what that means"

Yeah, I saw that today, and the anger just welled up in me.

That's quite a misleading and insulting commercial, considering the lawsuit they're facing. And a nice slap-in-the-face to those of us opposed to HD Lite becoming the new HD standard.

Yea, I know what you mean, whenever I go to a fast food restaurant and see the difference between the Picture of the burger and the Actual burger; the anger wells up in me too. But Life is too short to sue everybody so I just eat it. :)

Well, if you'd also go to a high-end restaurant and be content with the 8 oz chuck steak they give you in place of the 12 oz tenderloin on the menu, you have a much greater tolerance for deception than I do.

Or maybe you're just an indiscriminate sucker. ;)
