HD Enable Fee Question

I think I know the answer to this question, though I want to make sure.

If I were to order a VIP 622 without a HD package, and Pay the $6.00 Enable Fee, am I required to obtain my HD locals via a self installed antenna, or will paying the $6.00 fee allow me to get my locals via mpeg4 over satellite?

If your locals are available in HD with E*, and you suscribe to sd locals, you will also get them in HD.

Dahenny,

One other comment would be that if you DO NOT pay for the Local into Local package because Dish does NOT offer your Local channels in HD, you will NOT get any EPG data for any Local OTA channels that your receiver is able to tune.

Without EPG data, setting timers for your ATSC Local OTA channels is VERY HARD.

Not so hard. I do it all the time. It's the same as setting a timer on a VCR.

I agree, the timer isn't that difficult to set up, what happens is you don't have the guide info, (if you don't subscribe to locals) then your recording shows as "digital service" with no info in the description. If you record very many ota programs, you're looking at a lot of "digital service" recordings and to me, it's too much trouble to remember what program was recorded when without playing each recording to see what's on it.
For me, the WAF would be around a -1 if she had to do that:mad:
