HD channels viewable on sd tv

Just wondering if you are subscribed to a metallic package will the SD TVs/receiver also be able to view the HD programming only in 480i? Thanks

All HD channels will be available wih maybe exception of your local OTA, on all tv's hooked up to an HD receiver.

The mpeg4 channels cannot be viewed on an mpeg2 receiver.

If you have a VIP (MPEG4) receiver, then yes, you can see HD channels on an SD TV.

ViP622 & 211.

STBs such as the 300, 500, 600 and 700 series will not receive ANY HD and cannot show it, even in SD.

Sure is! One reason I bought my LCD's was a review of someone that had a VIP 622 hooked to them as their second TV (SD only output shown) and raved about how good their HD pictures were on them. I agree! You will be very pleased even if you can only see HD on your 1st set, unless you want two VIP 622 receivers.
