HD Channel List: Dish Network vs DirectTV

Dangit Fergie...you beat me to the punch. I waited till I got home to update but much to my chagrin, you already had updated the list. :)

Anyway I did make some corrections to totals and channel numbers. They way the sheet is setup now, you don't have to manually put in totals. It is all automatic now since I add some counta formulas in various parts of the spread sheet to count the various channel types.

I've also added a national HD sub total which doesn't include RSNs and PPVs. With this subtotal E* leads D* 72 to 70. A grand totals count is still there that includes everything and in this D* still leads.

I changed the color of CIHD. I also moved some of channels listed in the alternate section to the regular RSN side. FSN Indiana, FSN Carolinas, FSN Oklahoma and FSN Tennesse aren't alternates. Just part time.

Also I shaded BET Jazz in dark blue since Viacom music channels are known for not showing any HD. If somebody can confirm some HD on BET Jazz I'll change it back to light blue.

I can't I refuse to pay E* an extra $10 . I know some of the HD Absolutes customers have the channel, Maybe they will chime in.

I've not seen HD on Bet Jazz YET! So keep it Dark Blue.

OK This is the List of HD RSNs, Alternates Off the 61.5. Someone with the 129 will have to help, Because I know both satellites are not the same when it comes to RSN's

I'm told these are for all of the above channels HD RSN's. Thats all the info I can get on them. Thats how it shows up in my guide as well.
So none of E* Alternate HD has an assigned RSN. Which could be good or bad.
Again I know the 129 is different.

Again I know the 129 is different.

In the list Altitude (410), CSN Bay Area (419) CSN West (409) FSN Arizona (415) FSN Northwest (426) FSN Primeticket (411) FSN West (417) SportSouth (437) are all listed as being in HD on E*. But your list doesn't have them. Did E* drop them or are they available only to certain customers? Before I make any changes I'd like to know what happen to them

Also I'm not sure how to represent the alternates you found since I can't put the channel numbers with specific channels.

Those are on the 129 , Not the 61.5. But again someone with the 129 would need to verify.
As Far as Alternates, They don't represent any 1 Channel , They are for all the RSN's
441 Might have an FSN Florida game on today, And a RSN Rocky Mountain Game on Tommorrow. ANY FSN could be on any Alternate. They are non specific. So Customers with the 61.5 Only Get 28 HD RSNs Total and 4 BIG TEN HD's

Ok. With Hemi's confirmation that there are 8 HD alternate RSNs I've add some to E*'s side. I just put a number 1 in the cell since the channel numbers aren't always the same. This will cause the COUNTA formula to count the channel. I left the of HD RSNs that Hemi doesn't have in the spreadsheet because some customers get them.

I'll keep an eye on them to see if Maybe there is some sort of pattern with the Alternates , But I don't think there is.

Most the CHS gonna be HD, is music channels..we need IFC or rest of ENCOR'S CHS OR more important CHS people watch be in HD..all those teenage pop music channels is gonna be HD., hardly plays any Music videos anyway!!Bunch RLT 'S soft porns crap!!

Now if only we could get a filter on that xls file that showed what each particular package combination would give from each provider - so we can compare what we'd be getting...

Anyone look into that yet?

For instance - if I wanted to compare E*'s Platinum HD to D*'s Choice Xtra. Then I could select a filter for each service and see which channels are available.

BTW - thanks guys for all your work, this is great. One change I might make is commenting/changing the OP to reflect the latest xls file at the end of the thread (or even linking it there).

D* converted a couple of part RSNs to full time and a couple of HD PPVs gave up their lives to make room for these channels.
On the EI section you need to add channel 720-1 as the HD Game Mix Channel

Remove the Strike Zone from 721-1 as the Strike Zone Channel no longer exists (MLBNet is now doing that feature).

The MLB EI HD game channels go from 721-1 through 749-1
