HD Channel List: Dish Network vs DirectTV

I've updated the spread sheet to include the HBO West and Encore HD for E*. I also updated the RSNs and RSN alternates for D* including fixing the channel numbers as they are today plus converting the part time RSNs to full time RSNs.

I also filled out more of the totals section which meant listing out all of D*'s HD PPV. By looking at the grand totals (142 for D* and 95 for E*) it looks like a large lead for D*. But a closer look indicates that D*'s entire lead is predicated on HD PPV and RSNs plus their alternates. If you take those, away E* actually leads by one when combining just regular national HDs and premium HDs.

I didn't see CBS C on your list:confused:

It's listed on the spread sheet as CSTV, which is what CBSC used to be called before CBS bought the network. This spread sheet has been around for a while. When it was created the station was still CSTV.

However, I've updated the name in this spread sheet.
I see you updated the name, But you didn't add the channel to the list on E* side. E* has CBSC in HD, its channel 152

Forgive me, I'm not completely familiar with E*'s HD lineup. The one thing I know for sure is that they are kicking D*'s butt when it comes to HBO/Max.

I'll rely on you E* guys to let me know of any omissions from E*'s side.

Here's the updated spread sheet.

On Dish Network's side, for consistancy, perhaps using the same set of channel numbers all around might be better.

All the Dish HD channels except for 3 (WFN, Smithsonian and MGM) are in the 9400/9500 channel range. Dish "MAPS" all the channels to the "regular" channel munbers in the 100 range for standard channels, 200 range for news and WGN, 300 range for premiums and HD-Only channels and 400 range for sports channels.

Here are all the 3-digit channel numbers for the Dish HD channels listed in their 9400 range channel numbers:

A&E = 118
Animal Planet = 184
Discovery HD = 182
Food HD = 110
HD Net = 362

MHD (Palladia) = 369
Planet Green = 192
Science Channel = 193
TBS = 139
TNT = 138
Universal = 366
SciFi = 122

5 Star Max = 314

HBO East 300
HBO Comedy = 307
HBO Latino = 309
HBO 2 East = 301
HBO Sig = 302

Big 10 = 439
ESPN = 140
ESNHD should say ESPNews HD
ESPN2 HD = 144
Golf/Versus = 401
NBA HD = 402 (560 for NBA Leage Pass)
NFL = 154

RSNs - lose the leading 5 on all the channel numbers to leave the 400 channel range "regular" channel number

CORRECTION___

Fox Sports Pittsburgh = 428 (not 378)
Fox Sports Prime Ticket = 411 (not 428)

ADDITION___
Available on Dish (Game only HD):

Yes , This would make things a lot better. I don't even go in the 9000, unless I'm forced to.

No harm! Just here to help. We'll get it right.:)

Ok, I've updated the channel numbers and fixed E*'s RSNs and added the missing RSNs. Tony, for Planet Green E*'s web site had 194 instead of 192 for the channel number and had the Golf/Vs combo at 398 instead of 401. So for now I went with E*'s web site. However, since in the past E*'s web site hasn't always been 100% accurate, if you can double check and confirm one way or another I'd appreciate it. I also updated the channel number for WFN which is 394 on E*'s web site and different from what was in the spread sheet.

Also on E*'s web site it didn't list the HD PPV in the 9000s so I took that off, much like I took off channel 99 which was D*'s old HD PPV channel.

I corrected the name for ESPNEWS and renamed MHD to Palladia and Toon Network to Cartoon Network in order to avoid confusion with Toon Disney.

I moved both Food Network and HGTV from full time HD status to HD/SD mix since they both started simulcasting their regular SD channel instead of having the separate HD only channel.

With my software developer side coming out (I've been a software developer for 18 years and currently an Internet software developer) and the number of changes being made with this version, I advanced to release number to 5.0.

I appreciate any feedback you guys have. I just want to help make this the best D*/E* HD comparison chart on the Internet.

Planet green is 194,and VS/Golf is 398 and the only other 2 PPV HD I could find on my guide is 468 PPV Event HD and 9467 is another HD PPV.

Thanks for confirming Planet Green and VS/Golf. On the event HD PPVs, should we include those? I know D* has a number of event HD PPVs in the 90s too. What do you guys think? I don't think E* or D* include them in their counts.

Is 9467 a regular HD PPV or an event HD PPV? If it is a regular HD PPV I'll certainly add it.

I'm getting ready to go to the in-laws for Labor Day. I'll check back later to see what everybody thinks. Of course if anybody else wants to add those before I get back feel free. I'm not trying to be the owner of the spread sheet. Just a contributor. :)

I've been meaning to ask this for some time (possibly a dumb question)
but if a channel is mpeg 4 in the 9400 range it will be mpeg 4 on the mapped down channel in the 100 through 500 range as well, correct?
