Hi, it's been a while since I've been on because my Coolsat crapped out a few months ago. We had analog cable (despite calling them to cancel it) so I wasn't worried about getting a new box just yet, but they finally shut off the cable. Soooo, I need a new receiver now. I'm looking for something that will get HD signals (I need PBS!) and has PVR capabilities. Any suggestions for something not too expensive?

Thanks!

All I know is stay clear of the Pansat 9200 not in less you do not mind dealing with lots of software bugs. My Fortec Mercury works far better than my 9200 you can use it without it locking up, slow to lock, missing channels, audio chopping and more but the Mercury has no HD. If Fortec or Traxis offers and HD box I will be in line to buy one.

O.k. That's good to know. I don't need HD output, I only have an SD television, but I want to be able to receive HD signals. Are there any cheaper boxes that can receive the signal, just not output it?

Most HD boxes will output it over S video or RCA. My Pansat did as I also do not have a HD TV but I got tried of the issues with it and sold it.
