I am recently experiencing a problem viewing my local HD ABC station in charlotte over my off air antenna routed through my dish 811 receiver.

Could this have anything to do with the 811 HD setup for 1080 vs 720P.

All other locals come in fine - all signal strenghts on the locals are all 80 - 90% even the ACB station.

The issue is that the image on the screen appears to "REFRESH" itself every 5 seconds.

I have a sony 52 HD Projection TV.

I recently changed my DISH 811 HD setting from 1080i

Hey...I'm down in Rock Hill picking it up off OTA as well...and having the same problem you are. I wonder it this problem is actually the station itself...since all the others work fine. This started about a week or so ago with the -01 subchannel showing the ABC NewsNow station, but the -02 HD sub was working fine originally. Just a few minutes ago I was surfing and noticed that the -02 was doing it as well now. First time I had noticed it from the -02 channel.

It may be worth firing off an email to the station or calling. I just hadnt bothered since I rarely watch ABC.

response please thx

I really appreciate your help - I thought I was losing my mind - I have spent so much time researching this crap it is so painfull - with the Superbowl coming up I am freaking out.

What kind of equipment are you using - what are you passing your off air locals through - Direct TV - SetTopBox - dish???

I want to make sure its not the dish 811 receiver.

thx again

No problem! :D

I'm also running my OTA thru the 811 to my 50" Hitachi, using an indoor (SilverSensor) antenna. I've been up and running for almost a year with this setup, and honestly, the last couple weeks of ABC "refreshing" every 5 seconds, is the first real problem I've had. I've always been shocked at how well I get the Charlotte locals with the indoor antenna.

As for the Super Bowl, I'd guess you are OK...the local FOX affiliate , at least for me, is the strongest, most solid signal I get out of all of them. (WAXN-64 is the worst) WCCB seems to be on top of all the HD developments, and was one of the first to start the FOX-HD 720P broadcasting, I think. Looking forward to NASCAR in HD on FOX this season as well!

Somethings Screwy

I still think it could be the 811 in corolation with a change made on the station side - like the 811 is having issues handling the signal -
I spoke to Dish last night - it pains me so much to call them - their tech skills are terrible - they claimed that the 811 does nothing with the locals - which is BS and they refused to swap out my 811.

Any how - I will call/ email the station - if you could as well - plus I am going to try to get a new 811 - at least to see.

I will let you know what I dig up.

Finally - I thought the Super Bowl was on ABC - is it on FOX as well?

Problem Determined

Well I finally have figured this out after some major research.

The recent changes that the FCC is requiring all local affiliates to make (PSIP) has conflicted with the 811 software code.

I called my local affilaite that I am having the issue with WSOC. (super nice reposnse) They admitted to the change a few weeks back and admitted 95% of their calls since then were related to Dish 811 customers. He claimed they were in contact with Dish to help them correct the probelm.

i then called Dish (for like the millionth time) they finally claimed they new what I wa talking about and confirmed the compatability issue - they indicated they are working on a solution but could give me noe time frame for a correction - not even a ball park - days / weeks / months.

So I will continue to pester once a week or so until hey make this correction -
