HBO just isn't the channel it once was.

Well I guess that is true if you were subscribed for the boxing or movies. I would say that HBO is a better channel than it once was.

My monthly Netflix charge is $15.14, not a lot less then a HBO monthly charge.

HBO just isn't the channel it once was.

Watching HBO and many of its shows was like a special event. They had amazing boxing events, and the movies were aired to be special. Who could forget the opening of the HBO logo flying over the city. Even getting the HBO guide in the mail each month was special.

Now HBO really has nothing and you can watch what you want when you want. Boxing is going away and its the last real live show HBO has.

There is no reason for HBO to be a live channel anymore, as it would be best suited now as a video on demand service.

The programming lineup makes no sense and at times it seems like a video ipod that someone put on shuffle.

Series like Deadwood, Carnivale, and John from Cincinnati. Not to mention Generation Kill. Shows you couldn’t wait to go into work on Monday morning to talk about the recent episode and what the preview was suggesting what might happen next!

Here in “southern Indiana” we call them hollers. Northern Indiana doesn’t have them cause a glacier knocked it flatter than a Torino’s pizza crust.

I have seen many of those. Liked some, didn’t like others.

They are ok filler but most aren’t going to be winning Emmys anytime soon.

And to add to that I’d rather rewatch the series I loved than most of what HBO has now. And I can on Prime. At least until they’re contract runs out.

Netflix is certainly trying hard to outdo HBO (and succeeding in some ways). We won't be without Netflix for the foreseeable future, nor Amazon Prime. HBO tends to come and go for us, but after our free year through Dish, we didn't cancel because we had gotten used to having it. I'm on the fence about whether to keep it in the long term, through Dish or otherwise.
