And many thanks for all the help.
I have had my Remote for 15 months. I didn't even know until last night whether my TV accepts Discretes or Toggles. I was "Watch DVR" (i.e. TV On.)
I left the room with the remote and pushed "Off." The Remote now believes the TV is Off and The Receiver is Off and it continues to not care about the Power for the DVR - as I have instructed the Remote to not turn the DVR On or Off.
I returned to the room with my A/V setup and selected "Watch DVR." The TV turned off. In other words, it sent a Toggle Power to the TV. My Yamaha Receiver remained on, indicating it recives a Discrete signal.
I repeated the experiment for "Watch Videotape" and "Watch DVD."
Turns out that only my Yamaha Receiver is receiving Discrete Power On and Power Off signals. The more important point is that I didn't even know that - with Activity based programing such as the Harmony's, it just doesn't matter in my case.
EDIT: The first two or three days that I had my Harmony I must have made minor tweeks 20-30 times. I searched on the Forums and got good help and I made two phonecalls to Logitech/Harmony. Again, all minor things. Generally of the nature of the Harmony learning specific signals to a different button then it had learned it to originally. Adding unique buttons for my VCR. (It saves the names of recording to a chip on the spline of the tape cassette. Needed buttons to View that file and also to erase that file. Those buttons did not appear in the basic VHS Recorder that I down loaded. I have made zero changes to it in the 15 months except to Add that 2nd 508 last September. At that time I had some things I didn't like on the control of that 508 so I had to re-invent the wheel to make the tweeks on the 'new' 508 that I had made to the original one.
