Last night I turned on my Hopper to find that all my DVR recordings, and all of the PTAT shows were no longer there. I noticed that the Hopper had reset itself in the middle of PTAT last night around 8:30 pm, and I suspect that is the incident that caused all of my shows and PTAT to disappear. The odd thing is that when I go to the DVR screen it says that my hard drive is 34% full with o recordings. It also has all my timers, and continues to "record" the shows and indicates that they were recorded. However no shows show up on the DVR or PTAT screens.

In fact, if I tune to the channel of the show "recording", I can rewind all the way back to the beginning of the "recording", including for more than the standard hour buffer, but as soon as the show finishes "recording", there is no show that has been "recorded" to find.

I called Dish and they said it must be a hard drive failure, but it seems more like a software issue.

Dish is ready to send a new Hopper but I hate to lose all of the recordings. Wondering if anyone else had this occur and whether there are any other possible solutions???

It is behaving like a drive issue. Whether the drive itself is bad or the file system had serious corruption is TBD.

Have you tried making and playing back another recording?

I had a 722K that was acting the same way, turned out to be a hard drive issue. That is what DIRT told me it was, with the same complaint. I got it replaced and all is well now.
