Hallmark Movies Now? - HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE

I have subpar OTA reception at my house. Now that I know Locast streaming app has free Houston locals, after NCAA football playoffs (January) I am thinking of canceling PSVue for 8 months (until next NCAA football season). The kicker... HALLMARK

My better half loves Hallmark. How is the paid movie sub they offer for $5-$6. Does it include any new movies shown on their channels? If not, how long after airing are they added? How is selection?

Fortunately, NCAA football season also includes Christmas season :)... for Hallmark Christmas movies so if it doesn't include new movies add, not a deal breaker.

My potential plan:
Locast app for locals live, a la carte apps locals for VOD shows (including PBS Masterpiece & CW for wife), Hallmark Now sub for wife, PBS kids for kiddos, & Netflix would have me down to ~$17 monthly for 8 months of the year outside of NCAA football!

Anyone else using HM Now service to keep the wives happy?

“...keep the wives happy?” How many do you have?
;)

I don’t know, but thought Hallmark Movies Now was just Archive/Library content and not the new stuff. Would be nice to know if it includes new stuff or at least in a timely manner.

Hallmark Christmas movies start next Friday with the first new one next Saturday

Watching a Hallmark Movies Now Christmas movie right now,
I do believe they add new/different movies every month.
There's a new section,comedy section,drama section,mysteries section,Hallmark Hall of Fame section.
Have not seen one yet that has commercials.

I just looked thru the site and there isn’t any current programming on it. I see one movie from 2017 and none from 2018. Chesapeake Shores only has seasons 1 and 2 and not the 3rd that just finished up.

Thanks for the input osu1991 & Jhon69 .

I think knowing we'll have PSVue during Hallmark channel primetime (thankfully Christmas overlaps with football) helps my case A LOT.

Then she has below set up outside of football season:
CW VOD app - terrible teen drama shows (free)
PBS VOD app - Masterpiece Classics (free)
ABC VOD app - Grey's Anatomy & other dramas (free)
NBC, CBS, FOX VOD - if needed (free)
Netflix - multiple new binges & rewatches ($10.99)
Hallmark Movies Now VOD ($5.99)
LoCast - all live Houston locals (free)
$16.98 monthly from January 8th to August 30st

Any others my wife might like for free (outside of free movie services such as Tubi, Crackle, PC Flix)?

That'd put me paying for Vue only 5 months @ $49.99 each during football (plus $10.99 for netflix). Averaging to $35.31 a month for the year with Netflix included. Right at a 33% savings from Vue year around (mixture of Core & access). Then wayyy down from my previous $90+ for Dish sat on 1 TV (4K Rokus on 3 TVs now).

Just tried YTTV with hm now. Wife didn't like it at all (after 5 minutes of browsing). She likes all the mysteries on Hallmark M&M. She couldn't find any of them. We subscribed today, and cancelled today. Returning the Roku I bought tomorrow. YTTV guide sucks.

Yeah, my wife is good now with baseline HM on Vue. She really only "needs" (her words) it during Christmas though. Think HM Now might fill that "off season" gap for her though :)

Thankfully she's not addicted to any of their ancillary channels... yet.

Probably too late, but why not keep the Roku if that's your only streaming media player? Even if you don't sub to services like Netflix, Prime, or Hulu, you can more easily access TV Everywhere apps, regular YouTube videos, free streaming radio, etc. During the Olympics, the NBC Sports app, with TV provider login, offers incredible and nearly comprehensive access to all live events that you can't get on their family of linear channels. I won't watch the Olympics any other way now. And you never know when you'll want to trial a new OTT live TV service.

I have an LG smart TV, real easy to access most apps. Mainly use Prime and Vudu for apps. Have an old roku2 (I think) on tv in a guest room for app viewing for guests. "Wife's tv" is a Joey, she's happy with Dish as long as I keep movie pack (bargain for $10), which has her HM Movies & Mysteries.

Hello tcat007,

If it's Hallmark M&M that's needed from an OTT source, looks like AT&T's $15 WatchTV that's the most economical. With it being quite new, I've not read much about it. I don't know if it has the 72 hour look back for recently shown shows, nor if it has OnDemand. Interestingly, it doesn't yet seem to have Roku as a supported device.

I find I wander onto the Suppose.TV site occasionally to figure out what "cable" channels are available in each OTT service:

Suppose... you could design your perfect TV service

I don't see this site mentioned often in forums on sites such as this. It seems to be kept up-to-date, and is apparently independent from any the providers themselves:

This article also seems to list some other sites that can help track down sources for desired content:

And Suppose.TV is already showing that Philo includes Hallmark M&M. They are quick to update!

I believe now this is correct as the Hallmark Channels have the new stuff and The Hallmark Movies Now app has older movies, but the Hallmark Movies Now app is commrecial free.,while the Hallmark channels on Philo have commercials.
