Well its a beauty.. The scaler ring itself was very tight on the DSMI Int. C/KU combo LNBF. While it does fit, I ran into another issue that the LNBF holder was increadably tight on the LNBF. I could fassen it on but I couldnt adjust the skew from there. Loosing it would only make it so the screws would fall off and then the holder would pop out of the LNB. When I did try to adjust for Skew it broke the LNB holder. Yikes. Also, the LNB holder would not fit on my Fortec Star as the neck was too small for the arm of the dish.

When I did have it up I was useing the DSMI INt C/KU combo LNBF. I could not get it to pick up any C or KU band. This is the worst LNBF I have seen. I was expecting it to pickup alot of KU and some C. That didnt happen. Swaping out my KU lnbf to the C band one they looked like they had the same focal point. On my meter I was pegged on signal, around 80 percent with no quality. No matter how I pointed the LNB weather it was at the 12, 6 or 9 oclock positions it would not pull in any quality.

Fortunatly, I do have that one LNB that Anole recommended to me from Satav on its way as soon as they ship it. I made sure I got a holder while i was at it just in case and I'm glad that I did.

Bob
you sure you had the DMSI set up properly? Also, C-Band needs to be set up as Diseqc port 1 if no switch involved.

I have one on my 6 footer and works fine

Well, there's a right skew and a wrong skew, and I posted it in the other thread. ;)
As for the dish, which size are you using? Post a picture or two.
And that focal point question... for that, you should probably hear from Scott or Qwert or one of the other guys using 'em on 4' dishes.
I think they're both running BSC 621's

With that LNB I could only pick up KU or C Band, not both.

It was a fun experament but not practicle for every day use.

Ice, I did.. I had C on port 1 of my Diseq switch, and Ku on port 2. My motor has a built in switch. That I was useing.

Right now im toying with a fortec 90cm, but if all doesnt work on it, then its moving over to a primestar. I did measurements of the prime star vs the 90' and they are right about the same, but the fortec is taller (more round) than the primestar. I want to get KU up and going. From there Cband should be gravey.

I have noticed that if I align my dish for the Ku-Band signal the C-Band signal from the same satellite is optimized if I raise the dish elevation a little bit, but I can't do that since then I loose some signal quality from the Ku-Band :(

I am using the GEOSAT C/KU-BAND Combo LNB, and the skew mark on the back of the Ku band LNB points at the 9:00 - 10:00 Position. (Like I said in another thread, for C-Band (On my 1.2 Meter Dish) the skew can be off by a lot before you see a difference)

Qwert, thats what im going to do, sence I have the LNB on the way. I should get all the same KU that I did before, has anyone noticed if the ku levels drop when doing a c/ku combo versus ku only? You would think they would stay the same.

hi
glad you got your ring goaliebob99 ,i to am having trouble with that BSC 621 so i'm just using a normal c band lnb.
as for the holder i'm using one from sadoun.

The Ku-Band signal level drops quite a bit, ScottC has a mod to help with that a little bit: Fortec 120cm mod for the BSC621 LNB (PDF). (Posts #1 and #7 have PDFs)

I have my Ku-Band LNB in the center and the C-Band LNB on the side because C-Band is more forgiving, I do see an improvement if the C-Band LNB is in the center of the dish but then I lose a lot of quality on the Ku signals.

I too have a DMSI and it works fine. I will probably be trying my $1 scalar C band ring this weekend and will let everyone know the results.

I wonder if there are quality differences in the BSC621s. I have 2 and they work fine, but it seems like many of us have trouble with them.

One issue is to remember with 4DTV and the Ku side with a BSC621, is to switch to the 90 deg. reversed setting on the receiver.
