will be leaving soon for Dish.............been a log time coming!

Direct in their wisdom has changed all my OWNED receivers to lease!!!
no explanation why .

Did you ask why? Did you fight the change?

was on the phone for two hrs, talked to retention , supervisors, crs, and no good answers. i bought these on e-bay and called D first to verify ownership. then bought the cards for $20.00 ea and activated them. they told me that as of 2015 they were changed to leased for no good reason. now i have three receivers that will prob have to be sent back when i cancel (HR44, HR24, HR24).
plus i will have to pay a ETF.............about $150.00.................

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.................BEEN WITH D SINCE 1998

owned or leased, its the same monthly cost

afaik hr44's could never be owned

i know the monthly cost is the same, i had owned receivers so i could turn them off when i felt like it.

you are WRONG about the hr44 not being owned , i had two of them and sold them on e-bay with no problem.

the 44s came from X employees and or commercial accounts.

after i sold them, the new owners had NO problem activating!

Looks like you have already moved to Dish ...

What exactly are you asking ?

I would call again and make sure you get to Loyalty dept again.

to late , dish comes today and i am going to suspend my D account!

iirc dish also charges for a service visit, even if you have the protection plan. just an fyi.
from my experiences dish is more fee happy than directv.

but i do look at going back every now and again, until i see the fees

Some get charged a service visit, some don’t. I’ve never been charged a service visit that I recall.

If you want fees, check out your local cableco. Especially Cox in NOVA.

Good luck hope you don’t regret it I did when I went to Dish then back to DirecTV never been happier

Usually the best way to get owned receivers is to get them from a commercial account.

With that said H25 and HR24’s are the easiest to get.

HR44 is a bit harder as they do not allow them in commercial accounts period.

But what likely happened is some dumb CSR did not activate them property and they got tagged as leases.

Dish I will have to give credit for. They have the owned and leased receiver thing figured out.

HR54s are allowed in commercial accounts as that's the only supported way for them to get 4K (they require one HR54 and C61K per 4K TV) so whenever they eventually provide commercial accounts a proper 4K solution - presumably Genie 2 + clients - there will be some owned HR54s coming available.

COM3000 video headend does 4K as well.
