I have ordered an OTA antenna to be able to get more reliable OTA HD of my locals. (zip 14072)
I expect good results with the CM4221.

I also plan to utilize the E* upgrade and get hd dvr. Right now I have just one TV and I think it has the 510 DVR. I am looking forward to the multiple tuners and being able to record the OTA HD locals through the HD DVR.

My question: Should I hook up my new OTA and get it run to my TV before the installers come out or would they do any of that work with the professional install upgrade to the HD?

By the way I was surprised that when I called the CSR said that I am required to get the professional install (instead of doing the upgrade by mail) since I already have the 61.5 antenna and I am not adding any televisions to my installation.

This question might have been better to ask in the OTA forum but I thought since it involving my expectation of utilizing E* for the HD DVR it would fit in this forum. Thanks for any replies.

Get it installed before upgrade. I think I would aim at ABC & CBS and hope FOX/PBS are so close their signal will still come in from the side of the antenna without problems. At 2 miles from the broadcast towers you really don't need an antenna but strong signals bounce off objects and can cause crosstalk that can kill OTA reception.

Yes, get it ready before install. Also, get a splitter so you can input the receiver and your TV in case you would ever want to bypass the receiver.
